Doctors say not to put ice on it instead cool water or compresses and believe it or not honey works great too.

A friend did that once and we soaked her hand in cool water loaded with Aloe. We used the Banana Boat brand which si 98 pct aloe and is geen in color. The next a.m. she had no pain and NO sign of the burn.
The night before she could not stand the ice on it at all it was so bad.
I swear by this BB aloe. I keep it in the house all the time. It has worked on many a mishap with great success. I first found out about it when I was in St. Martin years ago. A native person told me to get it so I would not burn since we were so near the equator and it was very hot. I got a beautiful golden tan with no burn involved.

I always have an Aloe Plant growing in my kitchen. It's easy to grow and is always handy.

Use hemorrhoid. It works it will take the pain out and keep it from blistering.

Honey works great. Sorry about your burn.

I burned my thumb a few days ago. I knew it was bad enough to blister. I kept it in ice water until bedtime. I put Sensodyne toothpaste on it. It really burns quite badly. After that was on for a while, I gently rinsed it and put another layer of Sensodyne and a band aid over it. After the second application of tooth paste I never had any more pain. After 2 days, I put bacitracin and a band aid over it. It is already well now and I never lost any skin where the large blister was. This was not the first time I have used this remedy.

I sure hope this helps you because there is not much that is worse than a burn.

I've had it on an ice pack since (well over an hour) and it still really burns when I take it off the ice pack. I'm finally seeing some white patches which I'm assuming are blisters. This is just on a couple of fingers - not a huge area. (Oh, I really feel for people that have major burns!!!!) Other than keeping it cold for a while more, and clean (it isn't like the skin is open) - is there anything else to do? I've put aloe on it, and now lavender. Still really hurts! And of course it's on my right hand (I'm right handed)

Do you have any vitamin E if you do, cut one open and put it on the burn it will stop the pain and help heal at the same time. I had a 2nd degree burn on my leg from hot greasy soup and when I cleaned the burn and started using vitamin E I never got a blister. Sorry for you pain, but always remember when taking something out of the microwave it will always be hot so use a pot holder.

My dress burned off me when I was small. At 78 I still remember.

another choice is to use St. Johnswort flower oil, not essential oil.

I do only because that is what my doctor instructed.

Hi Stitchlady,

Check out getting a triple antiobiotic ointment for your burns. This is not the same as Sensotyne toothpaste. I would discontinue putting the toothpaste and change to the ointment.

Keep applying the ointment and wrapping lightly with bandage gauze, rinsing and changing daily. Keep applying the ointment throughout the day to keep it well hydrated and covered with the ointment. The ointment will help the burn to heal from within and help to avoid any scars from forming.

If you have a Dollar Store type store they should have it, if not it is well worth the expense from either a drug store or the grocery.

Good luck with your healing and keep us updated.
