Burns always hurt the worst!

Take baking soda and add enough water to make a paste. Apply the paste to cover the burn well. Wrap with damp gauze and keep the gauze damp. It will take away the pain and prevent blistering.

amazing how many different "remedies" there are isn't there? I've never heard of mustard or baking soda for burns before although I have used baking soda for bee stings.

Wow - lots of interesting advice! Funny, I kept looking at the vinegar bottle, but I didn't try it - but I must've heard that before somewhere. It doesn't "burn" this morning, but is tender in the blistered/white areas. I need to hold a pen in just my fingertips, but at least I can write still. I'm assuming that it's 2nd deg - the blisters aren't raised though, just white w/red around. I think I'll live now! lol!
Thanks everybody - last night was interesting!

And now I will ALWAYS touch a container before I take it out of the microwave, just to make sure!!!

I always keep a bottle of lavender essential oil in the cupboard over my kitchen sink. Apply a drop or two--no more is needed--immediately to the burn. It is amazing how well and quickly this works. You don't want to over-apply the oil either.

Aloe works.

Ice can also cause a burn. I knew someone who placed a ice pack on their back and sustained a large third degree burn.

If after finding and applying the aloe very gel the pain does not go away be sure to visit your doctor. Good luck with your healing process.

Can also use vasoline rather than triple antibiotic ointment. Little known fact - a large percentage of people are allergic to one the the main ingredients in the triple antibiotic ointment. (I'm one of them) Also - a triple antibiotic is not preventative against getting an infection. It only treats an infection once it is there. It is the ointment part that assists with the healing process of the skin. This is why vasoline works just as well. Learned all this from my dermatologist as part of wound care after skin cancer surgery and then treatment of a burn from an exhaust pipe after a motorcycle accident.

I try to avoid vaseline as it is a byproduct of crude oil. I would no more use motor oil on my skin than I would vaseline. After all, petroleum is not used to make jelly!

another choice is to use St. Johnswort flower oil, not essential oil.

Aloe Vera. Use the pure gel. If you have an aloe vera cactus, break off a piece and put it directly on the burn.
