Grandbabies! Jim's granddaughters are 5 and 2, and at Christmas, I went a little insane buying them clothes. Elise can wear a different outfit to school for a month without a repeat. LOL. It cost over $100. to send the box to Michigan. Little girl clothes. Heaven!! I sold a very pricy handmade coat in order to buy their clothes, but I would do it again, and probably will.

Para722 02-12-2011 06:37 AM

Books and fabric. And of course Dunkin coffee.

katsewnsew 02-12-2011 06:56 AM

Fabric and anything quilt related! If I want it, I buy it.

My splurge is Coffeemate Hazelnut Creamer. I try to buy it on sale, but it's one of the few things I will buy even when it's not on sale. And I will only buy that brand, not the brand on sale. I enjoy every cup of coffee I drink with it.

So what's your splurge?

 I agree.coupons are good

Bernie942 02-12-2011 07:20 AM

Have to have Maxwell House coffee, and Jiff peanut butter, just about everything else can be generic.

moreland 02-12-2011 07:33 AM

My splurge is to take the plane for my winter trip instead of driving. I love it taking 1 hour instead of 10 to get from KC to Indianapolis. I like driving, so do drive except in winter. Not sure if this is a splurge or just using good judgement???

My current splurge is to go to sewing/embroidery events. It they aren't close to home we stay at a hotel and call it a mini vacation ;)

greenini 02-12-2011 10:51 AM

Weekly flowers from Trader Joe's...got my Valentines day bouquet Fri.

Quilting books, notions, classes

Eating out once a week with our group who tend to chose fancy, expensive restaurants

nycquilter 02-12-2011 11:08 AM

I splurge on foods. It's lots less expensive than eating out and both DH and I love to cook together. So it's a pretty cheap date all told. But I'll buy yellow fin tuna at $22 a pound, figuring that the $22 is still lots less than going to a 4star restaurant. Our food usually is as good as theirs too (in our humble opinions and those of our friends~!). Basically, I've been quilting from my stash for the past two years, so that's no money spent. I carry my lunch and breakfast to work. We bought a cappuccino machine 10 years ago for $200 so don't need Starbucks anymore. I even make my own cinnamon syrup for the coffee. I figure we deserve to eat quality as we want!

Laurie

nycbgirl 02-12-2011 11:37 AM

My splurge would have to be......perfume and quality make up and good quality bras. and quilting books. and notions. and...the list goes on.

Our neighbors work for Coca-Cola so they're constantly passing out Cokes at parties or get togethers. They wink at us because DH insists that you can't eat a pizza without Pepsi but they let us slide on that one. ;)

dljennings 02-12-2011 12:46 PM

dh & i have splurged on d r dimes reproduction furniture for our old house... splurged a lot, so much in fact, that when i asked them for a tour of the factory (which they normally don't do) for dh's birthday gift, we were invited to go...

if you ever saw the movie "the Patriot" with mel gibson.. in the very beginning he was making a chair... those were made by d r dimes..

my only other regular splurge is i get my nails done once a month...

Honey 02-12-2011 12:50 PM

My splurge is scented candles. I absolutely love them. Sometimes I make my own and sometimes I buy them. I love having my house smell nice.

Aunt Patti 02-12-2011 01:08 PM

Dunkin Donuts ground coffee{don't have one around here} then it would be Longaburger baskets and Berkenstock shoes. I have really high arches and heel spurs, so these shoes mean the diff. between walking and not.

Janetlmt 02-12-2011 03:09 PM

I don't drink coffe..but am a tea drinker. I love Tetley british blend..I will slurge on that. I am a real coke lover..that is a must. Our local grocery store has the most fabulous whole grain bread..half a loaf is 5.00..that is my major slurge.

BellaBoo 02-12-2011 03:34 PM

I keep a lot of frozen pre cooked foods in the freezer. I splurge on the good ones at Whole Foods. I don't like to cook as much as I use to and these foods are very good and healthy. I also use all paper disposable plates, utensils, cups, etc. I don't like cleaning up after a meal when I cook so I don't.

tuxedokitty 02-12-2011 04:26 PM

NOT silly at all! I have about 150-200 Pez dispensers! Just one of the many things I collect  But I love to splurge on nice perfume, high end skin care & makeup. Just doesn't happen all that often nowadays!

Marilynsue 02-12-2011 04:37 PM

Mine is either notions/rulers or books!

Rose L 02-12-2011 04:47 PM

I splurge on plants and seeds in the spring, fuel and camping fees in the summer. In the fall, I like to buy things to cozy up the house before winter. In the winter everything goes to keeping the heat on...bummer.

TexasSunshine 02-12-2011 04:58 PM

I love candles and always have one burning. Another passion is gardening, love plants and am impatiently waiting for spring. I'm glad it comes early here.

vwquilting 02-12-2011 05:23 PM

I splurge once in a while and buy Swored fish. On a tight budget SS

redvette54 02-12-2011 05:26 PM

Yankee Candles and camping. Looking forward to taking the 5th wheel to the seasonal spot we rented for the whole summer.

Minnisewta 02-12-2011 05:52 PM

I splurge on a I hour massage. I get one in Dec. and use my birthday money. The only other weakness is M&M's, but they don't cost much just calories.

sandybuttons 02-12-2011 06:03 PM

REAL BUTTER!!!!

donnalynett 02-12-2011 07:25 PM

I splurge on blended espresso drinks. They are like a milkshake and my waist shows it!

laalaaquilter 02-12-2011 07:31 PM

pedicures for me and my DH

harrishs 02-12-2011 07:36 PM

Fresh snow peas! I love to eat them fresh (not cooked)----my dogs beg for them and I do share but they are exprensive out of season.....

madamekelly 02-12-2011 07:57 PM

I won't buy cheap cheese. Only the good stuff for me and mine. I guess I spent too much time on a dairy when I was younger.

juneayerza 02-12-2011 08:00 PM

My main hobbie is growing orchids and if I really like a particular plant I will pay whatever they ask for it.

mhansen6 02-12-2011 08:21 PM

Perrier water. I am hooked on the stuff. Besides decaf coffee it is the only thing that I drink. Thank goodness Costco sells it for a reasonable price or I would be in trouble.

fratcat 02-12-2011 08:33 PM

I splurge on cat toys for my seven furbabies at home. they have lots of toys to keep them active, but I always manage to find something a little different to bring home. If my cats don't seem interested in the new toys, I take them to the cat house at the animal shelter where I volunteer. Cats need a lot of activity.

Gabrielle's Mimi 02-12-2011 10:19 PM

Books... have way too many but just love them all. Bought 2 Eleanor Burns ones today since a friend and I are going on a bus trip to meet EB in California at the end of the month. We are so excited!

valinwa 02-12-2011 10:32 PM

I love CD audio books! The reader often dramatises them.
There is nothing better than putting a good funny "gals" story, or a "chiller and thriller" mystery in my CD player and set to quilting!
I don't have to hold it! so my hands are free to work on my quilting project
It is amazing how fast the time passes, and how much I get done.
Sometimes I splurge and buy one, but mostly I get them several at a time, free, from our local library.
By the way, I have a dozen or so, that I would like to trade for other different audio CDs, if anybody is interested. Jeannie
