I use the stuff you buy for stove tops Ceramibrite them wax about every 6 months with turtle wax (NOT THE FLOOR) We always wipe walls with a squeege. This has worked for the last 10 years after reno's. Never had hard water before and have tried every cleaner known to man before replacing every fixture!

When we moved into our former home 28 years ago, the shower was a dull blue because of the soap scum and the shower pan was gray with scum, too. I tried everything available on the market. Nothing worked.

Finally, I took a single edge razor blade and 'shaved' the scum off. The tile was actually a very pretty blue, and in excellent condition. But it took HOURS to do. I didn't want anyone to take a shower after that!

After that, and to this day, the last one in the shower has to squeegee it down or wipe it down with a towel. Cuts down on mildew, too.

Someone on another post about quick remedies said they used oven cleaner. Tried it, and it worked!!! Spray on and leave overnight, or at least several hours.

We have an acrylic tub/shower combo and glass shower doors. With 2 teens everything was getting pretty scummy. After lots of elbow grease and Soft Scrub got it clean, we started to use a scrubbie (like the ones made for cleaning pots and pans - sponge on one side, rough plastic on other side) with cheap liquid dish soap to wipe down after every shower - takes a minute, but keeps everything "unscummy".

When we moved in to our home..I used Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner on the tub and shower---be sure to wear gloves!

I use sugar soap or tricleanium - it is what painters use to wash walls, works great!

VINEGAR! Spray it on, leave on, come back later and rinse off.

THanks for all the advise... will try several of them to see what works..

It also matters what kind of soap, body wash, or what ever you use. We never have a problem when I was using Mary Kay body wash. Now that I am out and using another product, the scum came on like an army at war.

I use CLR spray. Cuts through calcium, lime and hard water deposits.
