If you could do anything you wanted and money was no object what is it you would like to do?

I would take in and care for the unwanted, abandoned, neglected & abused fur babies.

MissSandra 04-25-2011 04:03 PM

I would help others in need, but most of all I would send for my family to come visit me its been 2 years and i'm greatful for webcams

CloverPatch 04-25-2011 04:04 PM

Hire a hitman.
Oh wait, does it have to be legal?

I would buy an entire neighborhood just for my family and friends.

Up North 04-25-2011 04:06 PM

First I would help my kids then others kids to get out of abuse and neglect situations then add on to my house for a sewing room and living room so I could use the present living room for a dining room to fit eveyone.

sandraa 04-25-2011 04:09 PM

I would buy tons of acreage and take in all the unwanted animals and give them a loving home.

jemma 04-25-2011 04:10 PM

i would set up a palliative care facillity set up like a spa

dakotamaid 04-25-2011 04:13 PM

I would open an orphanage. Cottage style with house parents.

sewmuchmore 04-25-2011 04:16 PM

I would buy homes for family and friends who has lost theirs. Pay off our church loan so we could do more missions. :P

hmmm. mony is no object. visit several other countries. see the U.S. with family. pay off oldest girls college loans and pay for last 2 girls college. set up scholorship for GK's. finish college myself. build a giant no kill shelter in each state. build an orphanage in each state etc. well you said I had a bottomles pocketbook . . .lots of helpful, comforting kind projects. oh yea, a new sewing machine and a car. my 2002 is on it's last tire!

DogHouseMom 04-25-2011 04:51 PM

I'm ashamed (but big enough) to admit I am no-where near as philanthropic as most of you.

I would build my dream house on as many country acres I could buy and it would include a kennel, stable and greenhouse.

And after I was comfortably settled in, THEN I would start giving lots of money away.

2000HD 04-25-2011 04:56 PM

I know so many people that could use a hand up. I would busy for a while! Or at least until it ran out.

hobo2000 04-25-2011 05:01 PM

I would set up restaurants for seniors on ss retirement. So many seniors do not get enough food to eat everyday due to rising economy. It's hard to see our elderly not even able to buy a Mcdonalds hamburger, they resort to dumpster diving. They would get free or low cost healthy meals everyday.

wanda lou 04-25-2011 05:23 PM

I love Animals, wish I had the money to give you to do it.

MZStitch 04-25-2011 05:24 PM

There is some beautiful farm land close to me that is up for sale and it saddens me every time I drive by because I know a developer is going to come in and put houses there. I actually have thought about this question as I drive by, I would buy it and make it into a huge park for everyone to enjoy with rose gardens, playing fields, walking trails, and other creative ways everyone can enjoy this beautiful land.

Jammin' Jane 04-25-2011 05:41 PM

Retire!

olgaflowers 04-25-2011 06:29 PM

I would build a small house, specifically for quilters to gather
it would have very nice comfortable sofas/ chairs, special lighting ! plenty of tables to setup our quilts,
hard wood floors no carpet !! my only mission would be
to make everybody feel comfortable !!
Oh, plenty of parking, being moneys no object !
dream dream !!! oh, a coke machine !!

jdiane318 04-25-2011 06:41 PM

I would open a $5 a yard quilt shop and have all kinds of rooms where people could come and sit and work. I would have tables for cutting and people who didn't have room at home could come there and use the facilities. I would underwrite the cost where fabric cost no more than $5. Then I would drive my red jaguar home at night.

Murphy 04-25-2011 09:27 PM

I, too, would help animals.

But, i would set up a scholarship fund for B students. You know the ones who do fine, but just didn't reach that A level. It seems to me that very good and very bad students get attention, but the wonderful, productive ones in the middle have to really struggle for any assistance.

lovequilts 04-25-2011 09:30 PM

I would get some property and build many cottages and a community building. These would be for ALL types of crafters and we would have a "shop" to see our wares. We would have some planned events to be together but have our own "home" to go to. A big Craft area.

amazon 04-25-2011 09:43 PM

Find a cure for Alzheimers.Donate to my church. And for my family and myself, buy that 50 acres that I want, build a five bedroom,5 bath house, 2 car garage, barn- for milk cows & chickens and plant several acres of veggies and fruit and give it to seniors and folks who really need it.

Moonglow 04-26-2011 02:46 AM

Random acts of kindness anonymously.

OmaForFour 04-26-2011 04:28 AM

I would pay off the mortgages on my kids' homes, give them each a million $$, give my church a million $$, buy a new Jeep Grand Cherokee with all the bells and whistles, buy a new boat for my husband = about 28 ft. & trailer, fix up my yard and house with new paint, nice fence, nice lawn, garden & veggie garden (all with someone doing the tilling, raking, planting for me), buy the best quilting/sewing machine available, buy my husband all the tools (like a table saw) that he ever dreamed of, a new truck for my husband buy a camper/trailer - a big new one with all the automatic buttons and a shower & bathroom in it, give a whole bunch of money to Airedale Rescue, fix a sewing room in my house just the way I want it etc etc etc etc.
In other words, I would spend and enjoy it but not waste it on gambling and such. I am in my 70s. A big windfall now would be for me to enjoy the rest of my life and then the rest would go to my kids when I was gone.

gspsplease 04-26-2011 04:34 AM

There's an old joke: "What would you do if you had all the money in the world?" and the reply: "I'd use it to pay my debts, as far as it would go"
Thankfully I'm not in that situation, and can finally in retirement afford enough to make me happy.
cheers
Sandra

Edie 04-26-2011 05:27 AM

I would buy my husband a motor home and we could travel all over - husband, Miss Bess and me!!!!! I could cook, I could sew, we could go when we wanted to, stop when we wanted to. I'd like a Bounder!

My husband has gone through more hell than anyone could imagine including Leukemia and Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and all the chemo and stuff and he deserves something that he has wanted to do during his retirement - travel. This way he would be home, wherever we are.

That's what I would do. Edie

Ditto to this. I told my kids and grands recently that there should be a law against family moving away from each other.

Grandma Peg 04-26-2011 05:50 AM

Would try to help others.

romanojg 04-26-2011 05:51 AM

First of all; I pay off my sisters bills and move her out of the mountains to the beach where she'd love to be if she could afford it. She tries so hard. Then I'd pay off 2 of my 5 kids bills because they try really hard in life to make it on thier own so they would deserve it; I love my other 3, they make good money but party it away. I then make sure my bills were paid off and buy a brownstone in a neighborhood that I like and sign my all most paid for house over to my daughter. I believe in helping people who at least try to make it. I see so many struggling (including myself) and the ones who don't even try upsets me because a lot times those are the ones who could succeed if they put in just a little effort. OK; I know a different subject so I'm done venting.

wichypoo 04-26-2011 06:01 AM

I have a large extended family. My husband has 13 brothers and sisters and at last count 47 nieces and nephews and 48 greats. So I would love to set up a private school fund for the kids and then a college fund too. Of course I would also get my bills paid off. And our children's too. I would also get a big farm and get a whole body make over.... and ...and can you tell I have thought of this a lot.

MrsM 04-26-2011 06:02 AM

Maybe it is the weather but my fist thought was basking in the sun on a beach!

Hosta 04-26-2011 06:13 AM

I would buy a house in hills of Tenn or West Virginia somewhere beautiful secluded with a workshop for my dh and I would paint and sew and raise puppers and kittens maybe a goat or two

nanac 04-26-2011 06:28 AM

Give a bunch of it away - 10% to church, 5% each to college scholarships, shelter for homeless people, ASPCA, Children's Miracle Network, Local Food Bank, an agency that provides rides for cancer pts (to get chemo), community foundations to make gardens for those who do not have their own space, business start-ups for women. With anything that is left over, pay all my relatives" bills off, build a new house (with a HUGE quilting studio), buy timeshares and a small plane for my family to take free vacations. All this is after I win the lottery, of course.

Riversong 04-26-2011 06:33 AM

Animal sanctuary, build a log house with a great sewing studio,a gourmet kitchen, and random acts of kindness along the way.

Oh thank goodness!!!! I was feeling really bad about myself, because I wanted to do some stuff for me first!! I'm glad someone else admits it too.

mhansen6 04-26-2011 06:38 AM

First retire.

Then I would help with research for brain injuries. We know so little about the human brain. My daughter died from a TBI and I would dedicate my work to her.

I am humbled by all of you...so many great causes. What a caring bunch of people on this board! I am sitting here wondering whether to give a little money to a lot of causes, or to give a huge amount to one cause so it would be very effective. I watched the Extreme Makeover tv show on Sunday night and realized that so many good people are out there helping others with only a small amount of money but much time and love.
