Deja Dead by Kathy Reichs.

My Stroke of Insight, by Jill Taylor, a brain scientist who had a devastating stroke at age 37. Fascinating.

Half way through THE HELP and I'd recommend it highly
Heard a movie is coming out in August based on it. |

only 9 more to go after this one.... So what are you reading...... Haven't done much reading lately, but Patterson is definitely one of my favorites. Have you read the "Maximum" series"? |

I'm reading by ear, Follet's 'Fall of Giants' ... really good. I like to listen to books on CD while quilting.
I have noticed tho, that compared to actually reading a book, I am more likely to forget a larger percentage of the book after I am done. I guess when we read and use our eyes, it leaves a bigger impression on our brain compared to hearing with our ears. I listened to the full Millennium series by Steig Larsson while quilting, books were so so much better than the movies. |
Ronald Reagan's autobiography...quite good so far!

Currently "Krakatoa" by Simon Winchester and in the middle of "Homer's Odyssey" (don't know why I never read that before). Just finished Pulitzer Prize winner "Cleopatra" by Stacy Steiff (spelling?) and am anxiously awaiting "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" by Rebecca Skloot. Begin to panic when my "to read" stash gets down to 3 books. Have had a Kindle for a year and still haven't used it. Something about going to the bookstore, touching the paper, turning the pages....
|
I'm reading Clive Cussler Treasure
|
Just finished Tribute by Nora Roberts. Very good. Believe or not I am finally reading Little Women because it came as a classic with my Nookbook. Don't know why I never read it.

"death of a president". just finished "jackie and bobby", "the kennedy women", "peter lawford: the man with the secrets", "lee harvey oswald", and two or three others dealing with camelot and the kennedy years. i'm about finished with the kennedy obsession. time to find a new one. (i've read rosemary clooney's bio, and am reading bert lahr's, for a little bit of "light" in the "heavy" of camelot.) i haven't had the heart to read the warren commission report. and i'm dying to know what's still locked away. i'll not live to see it, though...

This morning I just finished the last in the Elm Creek Quilt series by Chiaverrini. So I have to wait for her to come out with her next book sometime this year.
I am also reading the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. Laugh out loud when I read her work! |

Right now, anything by Maeve Binchy. I read her years ago, but when I ordered my books one line from the library, I decided to request any of her books in LARGE PRINT. Five were available and I enjoyed the second time around even more than the first. I truly believe that reading keeps the brain cell active. GiGi

Just finished "Facing Down Evil: Life on the Edge as an FBI Hostage Negotiator" by Clint van Zandt.
Now reading 1) Spent: Memoirs of a Shopping Addict by Avis Cardella and 2) Tweak by Nic Scheff Would recommend all 3 of these books! :) |
we were talking about politicians and I remarked that I would vote for Kinky Friedman if he ran -- so I'm rereading some of his books -- next is the new Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum book due out June 21 -- I too have read and reread JD Robb's In Death books many times -- I love mysteries/detective books

Just finished "Brooklyn" for my book club; last week was "The Boy Who Came Back from Heaven." The latter is a life-changing true story...highly recommend it. Next on top is Jennifer Chiaverini's "Union Jack." Loved all her previous books!

Everything by John Grisham, Lee Child, James Patterson, Tess Gerritsen, Janet Evanovich, Sue Grafton... Get the idea I like adventure/mysteries???
Love to read. |

I just stared reading "The Forgotten Garden" by Kate Morton. It's about a little girl that shows up alone on the docks in Australia in about 1913. I should have books on tape so I can quilt and listen at the same time.

I just finished a wonderful book (most likely written for late elementary or middle school youth) by Kekla Magoon. She is an award winning writer, who has other books to her credit already, although she is probably still in her 20s. The book I read was "Camo Girl" - she has also written "The Rock and the River" for which she was nominated for the NAACP Image award. She won the Coretta Scott King/John Steptoe New Talen award.
Kekla won't remember me, but I remember her when she, her brother and her parents were members of the church I joined in the late 1980s in Fort Wayne, IN. I recommend it to anyone but especially to those fighting bullying or who know special needs kids or kids who get picked on by the "in crowd." |

Brad Thor - Athena Project he writes counter terrorism stories, quick ready chapters - he's an excellent author.

I always get my books from our library. Tulsa has a wonderful library system. I request them online and they e-mail me when it is ready. I have about 30 on request now (7 checked out). Problem is, they come in at the same time!!! It's been ages since I actually bought a book (except quilting books!) because it's so easy to get the book from the library. Even if I have to wait awhile.
|
I'm reading a non-fiction book called "Plain Wisdom: An Invitation into an Amish Home and the Hearts of Two Women" by Cindy Woodsmall & Miriam Flaud. Cindy Woodsmall is one of my favorite authors and this book is great. I just started it last night.
