I can't stand when the shower curtain isn't pulled back straight...or if someone takes out the garbage and doesn't put a new bag back in.

Sadiemae 02-12-2011 08:37 PM

I can't stand it when the shower curtain touches me.

and the toilet paper has to come off the top of the roll. I will even switch it at other peoples houses...lol

sharoney 02-12-2011 08:39 PM

People who walk through the doors of the grocery store with their cart and then just stop- to dig in their purse, or whatever- and block the way. Drives me insane.

Our shower doesn't have a curtain or door.

amandasgramma 02-12-2011 08:43 PM

I cringe when I hear the advertisement on TV that says their product is "gooder" or when I hear news commentators say "You guys......." or "these guys"......ARRRRGH!

KathyAire 02-12-2011 08:45 PM

People who put their trash sacks at the curb the night before pick up. The stray dogs or cats tear into it and there is garbage all over. The next week, they do the same thing.

MistyMarie 02-12-2011 08:48 PM

Mine is when my students (or anyone) tries to talk for me, assuming they know what I am going to say next. I always change it up on them and say something different if I can, just to prove they were not "reading my mind." My middle school students think they know everything. It gets really old.

My other pet peeve is gum chewing... loudly. I don't chew gum because I cannot stand having to watch or listen to others.

You can't put trash sacks on the ground here, they have to be in the cans or they don't get picked up.

My whole bathroom would be a big water puddle.

We don't have garbage pick up here. We have to recycle everything we can and we burn the little bit that we can't recycle.

Sadiemae 02-12-2011 08:57 PM

We have to have a fire permit to burn, and I don't think anyone knows what the word recycle means.

We get fire permits too. I recycle everything I possibly can because I have to pay for bags for the ashes in the burn barrel to get rid of it. The less I burn, the better.

The general decline of the English language. Speaking/Spelling - I cringe at: "I seen it" "Yous guys" "It don't matter" - just to name a few.

Jan in VA 02-12-2011 09:03 PM

I hate it when the covers are too tight over my toes in the bed at night.

Also, when the neighbor's sweet old dog drags the cat food dish off into the yard.

Oh, and when I have to stand at the sink with the water running for a full minute til it warms up enough to put my hands under it in the winter. Just hate that!

My pet peeves are people (including newscasters) who use "I and "Me" in the wrong place "Rose spent the day with Jake and I instead of "Rose spent the day with Jake and me"...it just grates!

Servers in restaurants who refer to my lady friends and me as "You Guys".

I had to look and see if your location was Montana. Same here.

People who don't use their turn signal.

Nope Northern Wi. :) When we first moved here, we were a little confused because there aren't garbage trucks up here. It took a little while to understand how it all worked.
When we go for walks in the summer, the kids will even pick up cans and bottles and carry them home in bags to recycle them.

Ahh...the cold water....I don't like that either. Also, holes in my socks. I throw them away if they get a hole in them. I wear steel-toed shoes at work and I have had certain shoes that would wear holes in my socks after one or two times of wearing them. I don't buy that brand of steel-toe anymore. I spent more money on socks than what it cost for new shoes.

Misspelled words anywhere, especially in the newspapers.

MCarleneM 02-12-2011 09:58 PM

I shudder at the "I and Me" thing, too.
Would they say "Rose spent the day with I."? duh

I used to try to find out how many typo's were in the books I was reading. I also used to try to find the mess up's in movies. I can't remember what movie it was in, but they had a roll of paper towel sitting on the sink and they switched to another actor, went back, and the paper towel was gone.

Sadiemae 02-12-2011 10:07 PM

Have you noticed that people are losing the skill of spelling words correctly?

pookie ookie 02-12-2011 10:13 PM

Adding an s to anyway.

Pet peeve threads getting shut down.

Adults having smug little adolescent rants.

Linty thread. C'mon, now!

Unrealistic expectations.

Lousy restaurant food.

valinwa 02-12-2011 10:16 PM

yes, one of my pet peeves, too.

valinwa 02-12-2011 10:17 PM

improper spelling... now watch me make a mistake...LOL

Chasing Hawk 02-12-2011 10:19 PM

people who talk on their cell phones and drive
Inconsiderate drivers
Parents who argue with a 5 yr old in the checkout lane over a candy bar they don't need.
Dish Network's customer service. Try reasoning with a man who calls himself Peaches......LOL

valinwa 02-12-2011 10:19 PM

actually just an irritant at this time, but trying to figure out what day and time it is by looking at the time line above my name.... mine says Feb 13, but it's still the 12th here... and 1:19am it's only 10:pm

makakehau 02-12-2011 10:30 PM

A couple of common English errors just aggravate me to no end.
The misuse of your and you're or their, there and they're.
People don't seem to be thinking about what they're saying.

Thanks!
Lori

Sadie,
I have often wondered if more people are poor spellers these days or if we are just exposed to more poor spellers because of chat rooms, texting, etc.

Who knows?

Lori

It irriates me when I think how short life is and I sit and hear comments to make problems for people who go with the flow of life...like some people do not have enough to do...too much idle time....it is like "get a life"

Sadiemae 02-12-2011 10:51 PM

This has been very interesting.

MistyMarie 02-12-2011 11:15 PM

I agree with the spelling and the grammar. I am an English teacher and I constantly deal with this issue. My students do not seem to care.
