I love summer!
Warm (and hot) weather, long days...grandkids home all day so I can see them any time I want.
I'm going on a short road trip with friends next week and I hope to go to Texas maybe in Aug. (I know that's the worst time of year to go there....).
Probably moving in Aug too if I can find a job in a new city first.
What do you have planned?

MamaBear61 06-01-2010 02:57 AM

Hopefully some camping with DH's family. Spending some time at home working on general outdoor maintenance (moved here 4 yrs ago and still working to get the place looking the way we want it). Helping DH do some remodeling for DS & DIL and for DD & SIL (two more grandchildren due in the fall).

watterstide 06-01-2010 03:28 AM

not a dang thing! i hope to drive to Texas in september from detroit..taking one of my dogs with me. i have a quilty friend in Oklahoma, and hope to see her on my way.
other than that..no plans. i am very content in my backyard!

quiltinghere 06-01-2010 03:35 AM

Not a thing 'planned'. . . yet!

If anything happens it'll just be a day or two road trip.

CarrieAnne 06-01-2010 03:56 AM

Just to work on my garden lots, get some quilting time...get a bit of rummage saling in, andkeep up with the bills, LOL! (Hours at work cut AGAIN, but I am picking up for everyone who wants off...)

fun2quilt 06-01-2010 04:30 AM

Not a dang thing, just quilting, crocheting, etc. DH has a BIG lisence exam in August, so no vacations until fall.

hazeljane 06-01-2010 04:34 AM

We're trying to get bids on adding an addition to our house, working on the landscaping in front, and overfull with rescue dogs, so that's all time consuming. We are planning to take a road trip/vacation to Charlotte and up the east coast to see family in August.

Jingle 06-01-2010 04:40 AM

Just lots of quilting, naps and some housework. I retire this Wednesday and I am going to spread housework through the week. I don't like to be hot and not much on outside work.

maryb119 06-01-2010 04:46 AM

Our 25th anniversary is this month and we are taking a trip in July to celebrate. Other than that, it's family and work as usual.

RuthS 06-01-2010 06:14 AM

Had many small trips planned, but instead I'll be getting a knee replacement next week. This is painful and healing time is slow, but if I feel like anything at all, I'll be in the sewing room trying to get some gift quilts done. I can sit when I can't stand.

aliaslaceygreen 06-01-2010 06:25 AM

In August we will be traveling by car from VA to Salt Lake City, Boulder, Yellowstone, Billings, Mount Rushmore and whatever thousand other locations my DH thinks he can fit into a 2 week time frame!!!!

Quilter7x 06-01-2010 06:33 AM

Going to a quilt auction in the Lancaster, PA area in July. They also have locally made furniture and some other items.

There's a quilt show on Cape Cod in early August that I'd like to go to. I'd have to be vacationing there to go to it since it's too far to drive there and back in one day.

Pam 06-01-2010 07:04 AM

Running up to Michigan in the next couple of weeks, brother gave me a slide in truck camper, then he is coming it visit w/ his kids (the boys are staying in the camper), company in July, Puerto Rico in Aug, more company later in Aug, camping anytime I can. Our place is more like a motel than a house, we have company in and out alot.

Start a new job, find an apartment or rental house, move to NYC, find a new guild to join, find a take a few classes to complete the requirements for my medical technology license. Haven't taken a class in over 20 years, so this must be interesting.

YAY!!! I think I may be as excited about your new job as you are. What an adventure.

abonda 06-01-2010 09:58 AM

going to los vegas baby!!!!!!!!!!

Jim's Gem 06-01-2010 10:01 AM

Work....... I've had too much time off for medical reasons (including right now) that I only get one week in August. DH and I are going to Lake Tahoe with 5 other couples, The gals were my friends in High School and all participated in my wedding. We all turn 50 this year and decided that we needed to get together and have fun.
Boss had a cow with this week so anything else I do will have to be on the days I don't work.

Pamela Artman 06-01-2010 10:08 AM

Working on the house (finishing the living room, new windows and siding, then new kitchen), camping with friends, finishing a couple of commissioned quilts, painting and organizing my sewing room, several trips downstate to see grandkids and for a family reunion, and enjoying my parents who are visiting for a month from Florida.

Jim's Gem 06-01-2010 10:11 AM

Oh, I forgot to add, Plan a wedding!!! DD#3 is getting married on the 30th of October. This will be a big wedding, 450 guests possible. This is the 3rd wedding in just over 3 years!!!!

vjengels 06-01-2010 10:18 AM

We're heading to Vegas, Death Valley, Sequioa the Yosemite! YEA!!!!!!!!!! then later in August I'm hoping for St Louis Arch... Don't know why,,, sometimes I get a place stuck in my head and I HAVE to go. it was like that a few years ago with Mt Rushmore... did you know it's free to go to the Monument? you do have to pay for parking though; we were there for 4th of July, they had the celebration the day before, the park was completely empty on that morning, it was fantastic! We brought our own food and had breakfast on the patio below the monument all by our selves, watched the helicopters removing the last of the pyrotechnics from the top of the mountain. That was a great trip!

Alu_Rathbone 06-01-2010 10:29 AM

I'll be preparing for college, going to local fests, possibly cemetary hopping... It's a ghost thing and it's mainly due to my sister... and I get spend a week educating some kids.

granniebj 06-01-2010 10:55 AM

Nothing special here. I wish! Just gonna babysit, clean, and quilt...the usual!

Gramof6 06-01-2010 12:31 PM

Lay low, stay out of the heat as much as possible, do some day trips, go to Marshall's in Arkansas (WooHoo), bust through as much of my stash as I can, go to some of my DGS's ballgames.

beachlady 06-01-2010 01:53 PM

Will be entertaining guests all summer - they start arriving the first week of July and leave just before labor day. Our vacation will be in October - going away for a month!!!

Pineapple Princess 06-01-2010 02:00 PM

I'll be volunteering at a Christian camp CA sometime this summer, and I'll probably do some Civil War re-enacting as well! Oh, and of course I'll be quilting! :)

Olivia's Grammy 06-01-2010 02:16 PM

Hopefully moving closer to Olivia. Have to find a house first. DH is already discouraged and we've only been looking for one week.

mamaw 06-01-2010 03:51 PM

Not alot. A day at the ocean mid June and the Maine Quilt Show end of July. My 10 yr. old granddaughter will be coming for a week mid June and going to the coast with me that one day; then the grandson will be here the first 2 weeks in July. I will be taking him to the coast also for a day. We plan on going for a 3 hr. whale watch when he comes. Otherwise, hoping to get a little camping in if there is money left after we get done paying for new siding and windows on the house. We are also adding gliding windows to replace the screens on our porch, to make it enjoyable for 3 seasons instead of just summer. Just got done having the roof reshingled. Everything starts going after 36 years living in a place. I have never moved very far lol. Grew up about a mile up the road from the time I was 8, then my Grammie gave me this piece of land right after I got married so we only lived in an apt. for 1 yr. Last year we bought the property adjoining ours, which was my grandparents place when I was little. Now no one can build next to us and we will always be able to enjoy the lovely view while sitting on our 10'x24' porch. The other night there was a beautiful fox over there.

Don't forget Devil's Tower in Wyoming!!! It's something to see!

Pam B 06-01-2010 06:05 PM

My last day of school is Tues., the 8th. This summer I plan to volunteer at least one day a week at our extension office helping the ext. educators who are in charge of the 4H program which is very big in our county. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, they cannot have a summer intern and will have to rely on volunteer help to be ready for the fair in July. Other than that, I intend to read, quilt, sew, do some gardening and enjoy having our daughters home for the summer. DH and I will probably try to do some day-trips here and there and maybe get away for a few days to celebrate our 31st anniv the end of June. I know summer will go fast and before I know it, school will start again in Aug.

littlehud 06-01-2010 06:15 PM

Camping with DGD. She loves it. And some quilting. But that's good any time of the year.

sunflower126 06-01-2010 06:52 PM

A week at the lake with daughter and family, a 4 day trip with friends to Lancaster area to visit quilt shops etc, a 3 day trip in Oct to Ohio Amish country to visit quilt shops etc. and a possible business trip with hubby to Orlanda in Oct.

craftybear 06-01-2010 07:35 PM

I would love to take some day trips to check out the quilt shops in other areas of Indiana

Marlys 06-02-2010 01:20 PM

We have the Matthew Quigley Buffalo Rifle Shoot held on our ranch over Father's Day weekend. Last year we had 633 shooters from all over the world! Then I will be getting myself prepared to take my DD all the way to Ohio to college in August. While there I will visit friends in PA, go to Gettysburg and Niagara Falls. I also hope to see a quilting shop or two (depends on how patient DH will be).

amma 06-02-2010 03:19 PM

Camping, picnics, my grands coming for a couple of weeks and a trip to KY :D:D:D

Quilter2B 06-02-2010 05:23 PM

Hopefully settling down in a new home further north and having a little more space to spread out the creative process. Maybe getting a visit from the DD and grandbabies later this summer when SIL is stateside on leave.

KarenSimon 06-02-2010 05:24 PM

Going to Colorado in August for two weeks. DH's sister lives near Denver. Haven't seen her in 3 years. 900 miles each way.

Aurora 06-02-2010 05:27 PM

Moving to my Homestead, finishing my cottage, building fences and prepping a garden for next spring, and the ever popular -- cleaning vintage machines. And of course, working on quilting during those hot hours of the day, when it is just too hot for physical labor. I love RETIREMENT. Life is just too good!
