madamekelly 03-22-2011 02:32 PM

It was cold and stormy here so i made DH favorite comfort food. Pasta, tuna and peas in Mushroom sauce. Yum, but lousy on the blood sugar!

Eggplant parmesan

Annaquilts 03-22-2011 02:38 PM

Our big meal was with lunch, boiled potatoes, meatballs and steamed spinach with a vinegar sauce. Sounds probably weird but tasted good to us.

Ina Garten's cook book Barefoot Contessa Family Style has a similar recipe called oven fried chicken.

We have a larger family 16 people for lunch is the norm and doing it this way enables us to all eat fried chicken at the same time.

Since it is our 41st. anniversary we are having something we haven't had in such a long time I can't remember... We are having a steak on the BBQ, baked potato, and sugar snap peas. It will be wonderful.. I probably should add some rolls, and a dessert... but, the steak is enough of a splurg for us.. It's gonna be good..

Margie 03-22-2011 03:05 PM

whole wheat tortellini with maranara sauce and spinach salad.

We went to my son's home for dinner, where we had spaghetti, then we treated all the kids and grandkids to Baskin Robbins ice cream cones. Tuesday is $1 scoop day--so made it very affordable to treat everyone. It was so much fun! :D

I love perch! Are you having Lake Erie perch? Is it some you caught yourself and froze? MMMM!! Perch from Lake Erie is the BEST!!

madamekelly 03-23-2011 01:30 PM

Tonight will be curried rice and baked fish, and mixed veggies.

plainpat 03-23-2011 01:51 PM

The perch came from my nephew. He likes to fish in Lake Erie.I ended up with a migrane, but DH said supper was yummy.

Rose_P 03-23-2011 02:33 PM

I'm going to bookmark this thread for all the times I need inspiration to cook anything. It's obvious that quilters are great cooks.

Last night we had chicken fried (cube) steak, mashed potatoes and gravy with broccoli and a salad of romaine and tomatoes. All quick to make. I had not thought to cook chicken fried steak in several years. It's not diet legal, but we enjoyed it, and tonight we'll enjoy it again because I doubled the amount. Different veggies, and maybe rice this time. I'm thankful my DH is not picky and has no objection to the "ice box review".

pab58 03-23-2011 04:12 PM

Tonight we had Reubens and deep fried mushrooms! I know, I know -- deep frying is bad, but we don't have them very often. I had iced tea and sweetie had Coke. For dessert we are having Homemade Apple Cobbler!! YUM!!!!

plainpat 03-24-2011 01:51 AM

Same here...DH doesn't complain...as long as there's enough to fill him up....leftovers works for him. A good thing....as there's just the 2 of us.
Today will be green beans as a side, with mac & cheese.Dessert will be lemon bundt cake with vanilla ice cream.

Can I come for dinner? I love Reubens and fried mushrooms. They are not on my diet either, but if we don't treat ourselves once in a while, why eat?

pab58 03-31-2011 07:36 AM
