Your horse is gorgeous! I used to work with someone who did Dressage, and it's a very beautiful competition to watch. My niece (the one who has 7 German Shepherds) has 5 horses and she does barrel racing, a really different type of horse competition!

my hobbies outside of quilt making are water aerobics (love!) and travelling with my husband. We've had many wonderful adventures both in the US and overseas. I've never been to Canada so that's on our list someday.

What a beautiful animal! I had a good friend whose daughter participated in dressage which, until that time, I was unaware of. It is a very exacting and beautiful partnership between rider and mount that requires years of dedication, time, and training to master. I love to watch it when I get the chance.

I'm afraid my leisure activities pale in comparison, but I do enjoy gardening, cooking, reading, visiting with friends and family, traveling, church activities, and caring for DH and our two Schnauzers, Lexi and Allie.

We used to golf, ski, dance, and entertain a lot but not so much anymore. And I really don't miss it. I think the key to happiness is to enjoy what you are doing now, where you are now, with people you love. I feel very blessed.

I too love horses. Watson is very beautiful. In my younger years I had 3 horses. 1 percheron, 1 quarter and the other was a Tennessee walker. I called him my buck board. He was a really rough ride. The percheron was so tall that I had to get on my hood of my car and jump on his back. My quarter horse was my favorite. I could put my DD on her and she was as gentle as could be. I miss them but I do have another hobby, my dogs and cats.

beautiful horse!
I used to show Siberian Huskies, I played french horn in school and recently rented one, hope to learn again, love to garden, love hostas, been doing Hairpin Lace for about 3 years now. like to try new things. began roller skating again after over 45 years not being on them. I stayed upright!

Other hobbies

I have 2 border collies and they do dog agility [timed obstacle course] herding and obedience. In the summer I have large flower beds. Few veggies but the flowers feed my soul. Diane C.

This is exactly me (except for the reading). Also LOVE playing golf but unfortunately our season is only 5 1/2 months long but we (DH & I) play almost every day. Love spending time with my Golden Retriever Abby & our Sheltie Lady.
LOVE a nice clean, tidy house too & it's not a job, just love keeping things clean. Your horse is magnificent & you look pretty classy on him as well.

I have many other hobbies such as gardening, jewelry making and repair, knitting and crochet, decorating our house and cottage as well as taking care of 3 small rescue dogs who I adore. DH is kind of a hobby too as I enjoy his company so much.

Both you and your horse are beautiful. My step-daughter does horses. She is a "pet-sitter". She takes care of all kinds of pets while owners are away.
Outside of quilting, my most important hobby would be square dancing. We had eight squares last Wednesday night. Love it.
My next one is teaching. I love the one room school, and love learning things. If I learn how to do something different, I want to teach you how, too.
I do Sudoku, reading and gardening also.
But I'll bet I spend the most time right here on the quilting board, LOLOLOL.

I'll bet nobody else has this "hobby"..........catching voles. When we came home from Texas voles had taken up residence under our sunroom and had made grooves all over our yard under the snow looking for grass to eat. So I looked online and discovered how to catch them. Only caught a few but now I think they're reproducing because I have caught 16 already. They are smaller and cuter than mice with beautiful thick charcoal fur but they aren't too smart. They go after the peanut butter oatmeal mixture on the mousetraps and get caught by the nose. Fortunately I'm not afraid of rodents!

Wow, what a beautiful horse - you both look great!

...what you need is a little terrier! I have a Jack Russel/Beagle, and she is a great mouse/vole exterminator. She rid my yard of all these varments (I do have to watch her with ground hogs though, cause she would go after them too if I let her. Funny story, she actually sent one into a tree once...I didn't know ground hogs could climb trees! I was glad she didn't catch it!).

Watson is gorgeous! I love horses! Other hobbies of mine....biking & hiking (I am slowing down though), fostering cats & dogs, cross stitch, knitting & crocheting...I've given up painting just for lack of time.

My free time is spent between quilting and my namesake Watson, my horse. We show Dressage, which you can compare to figure skating compulsories....There is a standard test of figures which must be completed at certain points, in the required gait, in an arena within a time frame. Except in dressage, only one of the competitors (the rider) knows the test!

Here he is all dolled up for his show....
So...what do you do with your spare time???

Watson

pretty horse...you can tell you are enjoying yourself. My other hobby is painting and other kinds of sewing, not always quilting. ..
I just finished this welcome sign which is reversible

This Thread has been such an interesting read...love your horse and the picture you shared. I have one neice who does dressage and 2 other neices that do barrel racing. We only had a run of the mill horse when I was growing up, but when we kids all left home, my dad bought himself a fancier horse and taught it all kids of tricks. After I married my husband and I had two horses, a buckskin barrel racer and a palemino that was beautiful and just a saddle horse to ride. Those were the days..Now it's quilting, reading and collecting vintage Singers.

i herd toddlers, in my "spare" time. i retired early, to take care of the hubster, who has parkinson's. and then, the middle and youngest daughters discovered that they were "expanding" their lives. middle one thought it was the start of menopause. youngest just thought it was about time! so, at the ripe old age of 65, i was chasing the equivalent of twins--they are 2 months apart. i started caring for "lady zed" when she was only two weeks old, and her cousin a couple of months after that. it's two years later, and i'm still chasing them, and juggling hubby's care in the midst. and i haven't finished a quilt in those two years. oops. but i'm having the time of my life with auden and zelda!
