I was in a fabric store the other day and got a bunch of fabric (most were 1/4 yards). I went to use it yesterday and her cutting was so bad that I didn't get a full 1/4 yard on almost all of it.
I had also asked her where their birdseye cotton was and was told, "It's over by the other cotton at the end, if we have it. You might need to do a little searching, I don't always put things back where they're supposed to be." Needless to say, I didn't find it and asked her to show me to which she replied, "I don't have time to help you look for it, I'm busy." This is not the first time I've had problems with her either cutting or attitude. I've talked to her but she just shrugs off complaints by saying, "I'm the manager, there's no one else to tell, deal with it." (Exact words I over heard her say to a different customer.) I would shop other places but that's one of the only fabric stores within 30 miles of me. Is there anyone I could contact to complain? Any suggestions on how to deal with her? |
I would contact corporate (owner) and let them know. She is not helping the business any.
I would go to their website and contact them directly and inform them about your experiences they might not know how horrible she is until someone tells them everyone has a boss unless you own the store!
I agree...go over her head to the corporate office. She can't treat people like that!! Definately not people friendly!!!
get on their website and find the phone number and give them a call.....they will not be happy to hear about this manager. Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself and let them know exactly what problems you are having. They will fix it and fast. And tell them you want some of your money back for some of the wasted fabrics.
It's really sad when people who are in what should be a service oriented business, forget that if they don't provide good service they could be causing themselves and their business a big problem.
Yep someone's bread and butter is coming from that franchise. Call corporate and find out who. I would be quite interested in how my customers were being treated not to mention how my store was being run.
I know what you are talking about.. the same thing happened to me when I was looking for a chenille cutter... I am sure she was not the manager but still... service is gone, they just can not pay them enough to care or something. It is all over no mater what you are looking for, hard to find service. I get better "service" from the other ladies in the store. I can always spot a quilter, she is happy and will talk to you and share info that she has... Love all you guys!!
I would contact corporate office and complain to them
I just found a phone # and sent it to you by private message[/quote] |
Wow!!! I've never heard such a thing! I would tell her this, "Yes, I'll deal with it-MY WAY" and promptly call the corporate office to register a formal complaint against the store and the manager. Make sure you get her name!!
Thanks everyone, I was thinking to call corporate but wasn't sure if there's a regional manager or how that franchise works. The other workers in the store are very friendly and unless they are truly busy with other customers they will stop what they're doing and help, heck they even ask if you need help.
She needs to definately not be working there, or anywhere else she has to deal with the public.
If she treats customers that way, I can only imagine how she treats her employees. It cannot be good.
Yeah I would not have been as nice as you were then.
She also has a boss. Find out who that is....

There are district and regional managers, but it is easier to just go straight to corporate.
I definitely would contact the corporate office and let them know, because if no one knows about the problem, it can't be solved. Hope they get a new manager, one with a little more CUSTOMER service attitude.
I would probably remind her of what her responsibilities as a manager are, one of which is to be helpful, courteous, and friendly, and perhaps if she didn't feel that was in her job description maybe a phone call to her manager right now would be in line, because after all you (being the customer) could be wrong. ;) Then take it from there.
I would not have bought the fabric if there was any question of it being short. we are quilters and need what we pay for just like anything else in life.
Definitely call the company about this manager. This can be solved very easily. They will probably have the regional manager spend some time with her to retrain her.
Thank you craftybear, I contacted the number she gave me and talked to a very nice person. She is contacting the regional manager and they are going to investigate and keep me in the loop.
This is just another reason why I love this board so much! |
so happy I found the # and the person you needed to talk to about this situation
please keep all of us updated on what happens if you find out anything from corporate

Would immediately ask for her "supervisor" .... let her know you are not
going to "deal with it", but higher-ups certainly will! |

Just read that you got the phone number and contacted them. Good for you. Hope this all works out for you and that the company offers you something for your trouble. That is the least they can do after dealing with that manager. |
Let us know what you find out.
I was a retail manager for 22 yrs. I'd go to the corporate office & find out who to talk to. Someone needs to pay a little visit to her!! That's disgusting!!! Customer's are ALWAYS 1st-otherwise she'd be out of a job. What an arrogant B----!
Holy Moly!!!
Thank you CraftyBear for giving her the phone number for the corporate office. This definitely needs to be dealt with. That store is going to lose all business simply because of this one person, who obviously needs to be replaced. |
I would bring back the fabric and tell her its not cut right and to redu it. Its her fault she didnt cut it right. You ask for one measurement and she should do it right. She needs a good talking too.
OH MY...... I will contact the home office and advise them of her nasty ness.....
I would have let her have it right there.... ellen |
you have received some very good advice. i'm happy to see that you followed that advice. it sounds like it will pay off to have contacted the management chain.
congratulations for taking such a constructive approach to the problem. :thumbup  thumbup: |
