This makes me think of when my in-laws min poo mix went missing for 3 weeks, i looked everyday in the shelter I work at, thats where we got him from, he was microchipped and tagged so I thought someone just fell in love with him and decided to keep him(he really is an amazingly sweet dog), one day my MIL is in her neighbors yard and she sees they have a new dog, she says that looks like my dog Stinky, they were like no, this is our dog Bandit( Our old dog was named Bandit, we had to put to sleep for medical reasons but apparently kept the collar). She was like that is my dog stinky( they had also given him a haircut which is why she didn't recognize him all these weeks across the street) What had happened was my FIL had taken him for a walk, couldn't find his collar from the last time we had groomed him, had put bandits old collar on. And it so happens that the number on Bandits collar was the line they had gotten rid of so the neighbors had tried to call an old number. I just laughed because she had been seeing her dog across the street for weeks and didn't put 2 and 2 together funny huh.

Our dog is either in his pen or tied up. We live in a rural area. The neighbor, his dog comes over just about every day to play with our dog. If Ariya isn't outside, she will sit by the back door and bark. One of us will let her in and the 2 dogs play together. She will also lay down and snooze for a while. One day, dh was laying down on the bed, Ariya was sleeping with him. Neighbor dog came over, I let her in, she went into the bedroom and went to sleep with dh and Ariya. It's like having a little one that has a playmate come over. She is a very good dog.

when i was a little kid, i had a dog who was on a run in the back yard. every so often, he would slip his collar, and take a holiday. we had two "fixes" for his absence--the first was to leave the back door of the car open. within 15 minutes, he would return, and we'd find him curled up on that back seat, sleeping, waiting for a ride. the only thing he loved more than running was riding. the other answer was to go two blocks away, and check the back yard, there. they had a little black cocker spaniel, gypsy--and he would go there to visit. we'd usually find them sleeping splayed out in the sunshine, side by side. we called her his "girlfriend" for years--but they were really just buddies, and played well together. i still miss that darned dog...

that's too funny. I have a yellow lab that goes to my neighbors and will knock on the door to play with a 6 yr old boy. They lay on his bed and whatch tv and play vedio games on the 'puter. Sometimes he will call and ask if she can spend the night. Other neighbors will knock on our door and ask if Jazz can come out and play ball with them. When she takes off, it is usaully down to the creek at the end of our block, she comes home and will knock on the back door.

When I was a kid, often when it thundered a dog living a ways away, a white German Sheperd named Shane, would come to our house. Then there was another dog, an Airedale named Rufus, who at times would come to us from about 6 miles away. So, at first I didn't realize that this was a very cute little joke! Luved it!!
