We've had several trick-or-treaters here. I don't remember what the first one was. But, several of the littlest trick-or-treaters have asked if they could take Penny trick or treating! (my chihuahua-she is wearing a pumpkin costume)

A little butterfly came by our ... truck! At our church we had "Trunk for Treats" as we lined our cars/trucks with the backs to the sidewalk to pass out treats. Had hot dogs in the fellowship hall and kids played on the lawn outside. Great fun for all - got to visit with our church family members and hand out treats. The friend and I who worked together had pencils and a Hidden Picture paper to hand out. The rest of the vehicles had candy. (Do your pretzels seem better than that?) :)

I think our first one was a monk, not sure but he had on a brown robe with a big cross. LOL, dont think i have ever seen a monk trick or treater. :)

Our little DGD was the first. She went outside and knocked on the door and Papaw filled up her little bucket. LOL!

Our first were a darling pumpkin and a monkey...our grandkids! Our adult kids and MIL came for a quick supper of soup and pumpkin pie just before trick or treat started. We had 338 kids in just under two hours and turned out the light when we ran out of candy. I thought I bought enough to last the entire 3 hours, but there were more than ever this year. Kids in town love our neighborhood of older homes and mature trees and flock here.

We had a family, the Mom was Dorothy, the dad was Tin Man, the 3 year old was the Lion, and the baby was a scarecrow. They all looked really cute, and the mom and dad were very realisitic in homemade costumes. A real family affair.

We had a clown and a buzz light year. My kids and I went around for awhile before we started passing out candy, so with the exception of two or three smaller kids, most of the kids that came were teenagers. We ended up with very little candy left over in our bowl because my daughter was VERY generous.

My kids are going to send their candy to their daddy. They have already gone through it and picked out a few pieces for themselves and the rest went in MIL-PAC to send overseas. My dh doesn't eat much candy, but he said he would see if he could give it out to the local kids. If not, he figured he would be pretty popular with the guys that have been over there for awhile.

My kiddos getting ready to go out trick-or-treating.

We don't have any trick or treaters, we live to far off the beaten path.

I had four 18 or 19 year old girls turn up on the doorstep just after 9.30 last night, who when I opened the door, yelled "trick or treat" into my face! "Sorry girls, I don't believe in it." Oh, OK" and they left. Didn't look as if they had scored much either. I'd been wondering what had been setting all the neighbour hood dogs off since 7.30.

The only other time I had them was about 5 years ago when 3 7-9 year olds turned up before dark. Didn't have a sweet in the house, so gave them apples - not a popular choice I might add by the looks on their faces.

What age do they usually stop dressing up and going around (I don't mean those escorting young children)? It's not a big thing here in Australia, although the el cheapo shops do sell a few things.

Don't remember the first one, but had loads of cuties. Unfortunately we only had about half of the number of trick or treaters this year I think it was because it was a school night, we have loads of candy left over.
