I was just wondering when everyone thinks that the couple will have their 1st child.
Also does Kate have a job she will return too or because of her royal marriage will be 'assigned' to just do royal duties ??

susie0808 04-30-2011 07:07 AM

I think there will be time for royal duties. I believe this is a modern day couple. From what I'm reading and hearing their living in a modest 3-4 bedroom house with no staff to help.Kate did not want it.

And maybe within 3 yrs for a child.

I think her last job was with her parent's company so there is no job for her to return to. I believe her royal duties are starting pretty soon with an official trip to Canada.

I think it will be maybe a year and a half or two. She seems like she will want to get herself established in her role first.

moonwork42029 04-30-2011 08:19 AM

I'm betting right away...neither of them as as young as some starting out and I would think they would want some kids very soon.

clem55 04-30-2011 09:32 AM

probably will be pressured a lot to have another heir.

don't think too much pressure but her age will decree time for heir and spare.

ashlett 04-30-2011 09:35 AM

She no longer works. They live in a four bedroomed farmhouse.

CoriAmD 04-30-2011 10:16 AM

I heard on the news last night, because she is now royalty, she is not allowed to work. And When interviewed, Prince William said yes, they would be thinking about starting a family. I think that is the reason they got married since they have been together for about 9 yrs.

QuiltnCowgirl 04-30-2011 10:20 AM

Can we let them be married a few more than 24 hours before putting the pressure on to have babies?

Totally agree!! I had people asking me during the 'money dance' at our wedding when we were going to start having kids.

Her age is also a factor, true. Although, with the food that they have in the UK and her seeming health, I'm sure she won't have any troubles. There is definitely something to be said for starting younger though. I had my son when I was 37. It would have been a whole different ball game if I'd had him in my 20s.

Krystyna 04-30-2011 10:36 AM

I think they'll get to work on it immediately. They've been together for 9 years and she will be 30 in January -- so no time to waste!

lauriejo 04-30-2011 11:48 AM

Gosh if you listen to the tabloid news she is already pregnant!

wanda lou 04-30-2011 11:49 AM

only time will tell, but one thing for sure they will have beautiful kids.

First of all, I don't think anything we speculate about on our little forum will put pressure on the royal couple to have babies or anything else! LOL

But seriously, I think Bonnie was just trying to get some good-natured responses to a question on many, many people's minds. It's just all in good fun. My thoughts are that they will procreate within two years. :D :D

jskbloomers 04-30-2011 02:51 PM

From snippets that I heard on T.V., it would be nice if they had a child while still in Wales. It would be the first one in the Royal family in something like 700 years. (I think that is what was said) My 2 cents worth is within 2 years.

Ladyjanedoe 04-30-2011 03:00 PM

I remember my female relatives complaining because I hadn't had a child by the time I hit 32. I had my son at 34 and I'm glad I waited until I was ready and that I didn't listen to the old crows bugging me. My son has more than any of my nieces and nephews ever had because we were in a great position to give it all to him. The world is full of resentful mothers who were pushed too soon to have children. I say back off and let THEM decide. It's their life.

quilter1943 04-30-2011 03:23 PM

Some of the channels were talking about it before they came out of the church.

I think right away too

I am sorry to say this, but I am embarresed by this thread.

Thank You, I was just curious since they are both going to be in there 30's soon and have been together for 9-10 years. I thought I had heard the the reason they waited to be married was that once they were married it was expected for them to start a family very soon.
Gosh there were bookies who were wagering bets on the 'kiss' how long it would be....

OmaForFour 05-01-2011 05:42 AM

I don't think she will return to work as such but will have royal duties. Also I think she will have a baby at the end of year. Her child is heir to the throne.

lfstamper 05-01-2011 05:44 AM

Chief domestic goddess will be her job until Mom title arrives. Could be sooner rather than later...just my two cents.

ggreenridley 05-01-2011 07:01 AM

When they are ready.

quilter68 05-01-2011 07:21 AM

They (the Brits) are probably placing odds on this issue now. And any future issue of this marriage.
I say June/July in 2012. Not to upstage the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

polly13 05-01-2011 10:21 AM

I understand from tv that the bookies are already taking bets on when the royal baby will be born.

SamanthaLee 05-01-2011 10:55 AM

Of course people are thinking about it. It's the general progression of things, isn't it? Dating, marriage, babies... in real life it kind of gets jumbled, but for royalty, it just about always goes in that order. One of the key duties is to produces heirs, so I can definitely understand the question and the interest. And they have been together for a decade! it's not like Kate will have the worries that regular moms do - how are we going to pay our bills while I'm on maternity leave, how can I get back into the work force, who will help me watch the baby so I can get some chores and errands done, how are we going to afford the medical bills, will we ever get to go on dates or vacation again? Kate will have so much support, so if she is bitter about having kids right now, I sure as heck won't understand why. In fact, kate's status will only improve after giving birth to heirs.

grammysharon 05-01-2011 11:07 AM

I think they will wait until after he is out of the AirForce. (approx 2 yrs.)

She is in the "tick. tick.tick." stage of life, so I think any children would be sooner rather than later.

Ramona Byrd 05-01-2011 02:15 PM

During my last pregnancy, in the doctor's office I met a woman who was 51 years old, having what she grimly declared to be her last. She wasn't happy with it, but her age and weight had hid it too long so she had to go on and have this child.

At 33 I was considered to be almost too old to have kids, in other families but not mine. I had my first one 8 months after Mom had her last one. My second sister went to her first daughter's wedding while still nursing her last. And my first son was almost 17 when my last son was born. So age in this and the last generation isn't so important now a days.

As royals, they will have the best medical care in the world, so their ages aren't so very important yet.!! Not for probably the next 20 years!! But they will most likely be talked into having that next heir to the throne.

Tinabug 05-01-2011 02:48 PM

I think it will be a year and 9 months.

Ramona Byrd 05-01-2011 03:08 PM

This is just talk we would all have with friends, that's just human nature and a reason we get married. I speak honestly and I think that's what you all do as well, that's why I like this board. That's my 2 cents.

debbieoh 05-01-2011 04:24 PM

I'd say within 2 years for the birth of a new royal

I can't IMAGINE turning down "staff" if that was actually an option. Obviously Kate is not a QUILTER!!
