Svenskaflicka1 and Kwiltcrazy I think you are tied as daily winners!

lorraine43 01-23-2012 07:03 PM

I think someone is reading Jane Eyre!!!! I can't understand some of the words they use. LOL

Krystyna 01-23-2012 08:12 PM

Here's a head start on tomorrow's word of the day ...
Ubiquitous [u·biq·ui·tous] adj. Being or seeming to be everywhere, or in all places, at the same time; omnipresent.

"My fabric hoard ... um, I mean stash ... is ubiquitous."

kwiltkrazy 01-23-2012 08:15 PM

Disappearing 9patch is such an ubiquitous pattern.

sewellie 01-23-2012 08:21 PM

Today's word of the day is Remora (REM-er-uh)

1.
An obstacle, hindrance, or obstruction.

A hindrance is when you sew something laying behind something that you are cutting. Then I have to pull out my remora to help me out.

We're on a new word now! Of course these words tend to be UBIQUITOUS

Diana Lynne 01-24-2012 02:14 AM

Animal hair is ubiquitous when trying to quilt whey they are nearby..Diana

nancia 01-24-2012 04:24 AM

my inability to fmq successfully is the true remorah keeping me from being a quality quilter. it may seem a slimsy excuse but the ubiquitous quilt inspectors and hangers on are of scant help. i would castigate them, but it is of no use, being redundant. it has been done to no avail.

Krystyna 01-24-2012 05:28 AM

Hahaha! I actually saw a book at Barnes and Noble called Crafting with Cat Hair. I thought it was a joke, but it wasn't. Ugh! It had a chapter on "harvesting"!

buslady 01-24-2012 11:47 AM

You cannot walk anywhere in my house without seeing my ubiquitous supply of sewing paraphernalia.

kwiltkrazy 01-24-2012 02:11 PM

That's great buslady, I think it is true for all of us.

Greenheron 01-24-2012 03:18 PM

Remora-like, the ubiquitous Quilt Police are prosecuting me for piecing with slimsy fabric. :hunf:

Krystyna 01-25-2012 04:52 AM

Today's word is bleb
noun;

1.A bubble.

2.Medicine/Medical. A blister or vesicle.

Diana Lynne 01-25-2012 05:05 AM

I have a bleb on my finger from the hot iron which is a remora to me, because it is making quilting hard..Diana

Greenheron 01-25-2012 01:03 PM

You'll always know
When a bleb's on your toe.

See a bleb on your cheek
And let out with a shriek.

The bleb on your arm
Will do little harm.

But a bleb on your sitter
Is painful and bitter.

Krystyna 01-25-2012 01:31 PM

Oh my goodness! That gave me a tears-rolling-down-my-bleb-covered cheeks laugh!!!!

nancia 01-25-2012 01:48 PM

ahhh, you sillies, you live in a bleb where there is no remora to mirth and frivolity. it is a slimsy bleb at best! beware for harshness and pain are ubiquitous daggers and will render your bleb deflated and flaccid, your flanks naked and exposed in their hilarity.

kwiltkrazy 01-25-2012 06:13 PM

You guys are too much. Great work.

nancia 01-25-2012 07:32 PM

that's it ! my bleb has popped and now i will be spending the night unblebbing my home. y'all have fun from here!

Krystyna 01-26-2012 04:25 AM

Good morning logophiles (someone who loves learning new words)
Today's word is Mettle
noun;

1.
Courage and fortitude.

2.
Disposition or temperament.

Go to it, ladies and gents!

Diana Lynne 01-26-2012 06:20 AM

I will have the mettle to finish the project I started regardless of my remora!! That silly belb :D..Diana

Krystyna 01-26-2012 06:28 AM

Will I have to mettle to learn to applique? Perhaps, but I think it will look like a bleb!

I think Diana is stuck on remoras!

kwiltkrazy 01-26-2012 09:54 AM

She showed her mettle by finishing the quilt she hated in every way.

The hull of the schooner was fouled by hundreds of the ubiquitous and repulsive remoras. The leonine captain, despite the painful blebs covering his nether parts, put the seamen on their mettle and wearing but slimsy undergarments they dove over the sides and scraped away the obstructing members of the family Echeneididae.

kwiltkrazy 01-26-2012 11:48 AM

fantastic Greenheron.

sewlisa 01-26-2012 11:51 AM

I really have to be on my mettle to sew in such a slimsy space, where the pet hair from my leonine dog is ubiquitous and the blebs are multiplying like remoras. Argh! :o

SouthPStitches 01-26-2012 02:51 PM

I have been told I am now remora and echeneide free after today's colonoscopy and am comfortably resting beneath my valentine quilt. BOOOO HISSSSS!!

nancia 01-26-2012 03:18 PM

kwiltkrazy 01-26-2012 04:08 PM

Great one sewlisa.

Krystyna 01-26-2012 04:55 PM

Oh my goodness! Greenheron you win the prize for most adventurous use of all of them ... and SouthPStitches ... well, what can I say?

I'm coming down with something that might cause blebs ... so here is tomorrow's word of the day

[h=3]sybarite, noun - A person devoted to luxury and pleasure

I really should shop for fabric at Walmart, but I am a sybarite, so I shop that the Metropolitan Museum of Art for fine tapestries to slice into bits for my dog's Dresden quilt[/h]

buslady 01-26-2012 07:36 PM

If I weren't such a sybarite I'd have the mettle to get off this web and get some quilting done.

Greenheron 01-26-2012 11:12 PM

1 Attachment(s)
Sybarite that I am, this evening was spent lasciviously lolling and rolling about on mountains of glorious 100% cotton LQS quality designer fabrics in multiple colorways with good hand, fast dyes and fine, close weave; gently pre-washed and ironed by leonine laundry men, absolutely bleb-free. Ubiquitous threads floated in a slimsy cloud through the starch-perfumed air. No remora of regret would enter, barred forever by their manly mettle.

Diana Lynne 01-27-2012 04:19 AM

As a Sybarite..I must have the best..No store bought cloth for me..They are to be made especially for me by the best cloth makers and no 2 pieces shall ever be the same ...

Krystyna 01-27-2012 04:26 AM

Greenheron, I think you should have the mettle to write romance novels. Love the sybarite lounging image!
