Are you "cost-conscious, frugal, economical, or cheap"?
Each of those words has a somewhat different meaning to me. I think I would prefer to be described as "cost-conscious" |
I think the first 3 describe me :D:D:D
|
Cost-conscious definitely!
|
I wouldn't say cheep cost concious on the other hand with the way things are right now...definately! frugal is not however a bad thing.
|
I think eveyone has become all the above nowdays.
|
I like free.

I don't care for 'cheap'...but the others? Sure, I would categorize myself in all of them at one time or another.
The MAJORITY of my clothing, for example, (excluding underthings/socks/plain White T's) comes from Goodwill. Mostly because I PREFER to shop there, because I don't NEED any clothes. My work 'uniform' is white button-down shirt and black slacks. And they get dirty and used looking. I refuse to spend more than 3.50 for pants and 2.50 for a top for work. The rest of my clothes, though I buy there because I find things that I LIKE. Colors, styles, more unique and certainly from a wider variety of stores than I would normally shop at, as clothing shopping is not an excitement. As to other expenses, I try not to be penny-wise and pound foolish, you know? That mentality causes a lot of issues with people and their perception of money, IMHO. |
I think all 4 apply to me
|
I am probably in the Cost Conscious, not realy cheap. I love a good bargan and mostly only buy things on sale, but I do occasionally buy fabrics at full price, if they call my name. I love to shop Coldwater Creeks sales for my clothing.

I dont really like cheap....but I have to be frugal. I've always been a do it yourselfer....grow my own, make it yourself, and I dont buy much. I share and trade with family and friends for alot....and I dont need much. LOL, dont care to keep up with the Jones, as I just dont know them!
Cant tell you the last time I bought new clothes, I wear Sister and daughters hand me downs...or buy from rummage sales! |
I'm just broke! LOL so I have to be all of the above. Semi-retirement is great--all the time in the world to sew but not enough money to do all I'd like. (Won't trade not working full-time for any amount of money though!)
|
cost conscious, as my hubby has been unemployed since July 2009 so $ has been tight, I hopes he finds a job soon so we can get caught up on our bills and try to have some $ to buy some fabric so I can quilt more
I have been making some scrappy lap quilts, potholders, coasters, placemats to make some small projects |
I don't think I'm any of those. I lean more to particular. I buy what I like and pass on what I don't. I don't care a lot about where I find it if it feels like good quality. I don't buy a lot of fabric without a purpose in mind (except for FQ's, they are my little splurge on just because fabric).
|
I am all four , but in different areas of my life
|
"cheap" - to me - is the person that when it's time to "split the check" will take the $12.24 part of the bill instead of the $12.25 part.
|
Depends on what we are talking about
Cost-conscious - I will drive on fumes if I know gasoline is cheaper a block away, but will not go across town to save a nickel a gallon Frugal - I use up completely, repurpose, recycle, and try not to waste a thing. I do not require everything in my life to come to me shiny and new, encased in superfluous plastic. My Yankee upbringing ;-) Economical - for most things. When I am in a position to stock up on staples like toilet paper, trash bags, and such, I get bargains so I will not have to pay full price later. My online purchases usually fit in this category. Cheap - the local dollar store has plenty of things that are "good enough" for me. I seldom buy household cleansers anywhere else. I cannot see paying 4-5 bucks for something, when the dollar version does the job. |
The first three would describe me.
|
Poor...
Which forces me to be the others. |

I'm loose......might as well spend it and buy what you want. You can't take it with you and since I can't nobody else is gonna take mine either!

I am a combination of particular, frugal and conservative.
My name for the above is "resourceful." :-) |

I'm the first 3 and always looking for a bargain. I collect Boyds Bears (plush) and today I bought 5 at the Goodwill for $3.75.

All of the above.
I am cost-conscious when buying fabric. I will buy it on sale and on clearance, which leaves me an eclectic stash. I only buy fabric at $5 a yard or less, preferably less. frugal- I am frugal in buying groceries. I either make everything from scratch, or I go the other way and buy the Stouffer's Easy Meals in the freezer section. With a coupon, those are $3 for dinner for 2, including meat, starch and green veggies. If we eat out, we order something I don't fix at home. Never pay more than $10 per person and that is the exception. I live in a small town and we have lots of 2 for 1 coupons mailed out. I can often feed dh and self supper for $5 or less, with no cooking! economical - We only have two luxuries we purchase - internet and cable tv. We live in the country and are limited to 1 of 2 carriers, so I pay $75 per month for each. Would pay less but there are no other options. cheap - I go to Dollar Tree for my decorations, cleansers, sponges, plasticware and gift wrap. Cards, too. Careful- I take over 14 prescriptions so I call every drug store in the area every month to compare prices. It is amazing that one will charge $40 for another's $4. Also, dh has a very expensive prescription that costs $165 per mo in the US, but $28.95 for the same prescription made in India. I pay $10 for shipping, and it takes 21 days to get here. Free- I take as much as given, if I will use it or know of someone who will. I don't hoard. Clothing - I buy all my clothing used (except underwear) from E-bay. I wear a 4x and ebay has a great variety. I usually buy 3-4 outfits per summer/winter. My dh likes to wear his college themed sport shirts (Go Auburn!). I buy all of them on ebay, used. Usually for under $5 for $50 shirts. |

First 3 definitely!! Cheap no. Ask my DH!
|
I buy what I can afford and I like to be careful about what I spend. I try not to waste and to give to others as much as possible. I am not cheap..which to me has a very bad connotation. I like frugal and economical.

yes :)

Ok I am not cheap but I have to be extremely frugal. Only buy what is nessecary (?). Except at tax time, that is when I go buy what we need like clothes and I stock up on house hold supplies. That is also when I go buy what fabric I have been wanting. Frankly it gets tiring sometimes.
|
I agree. I'm all four. It depends on the day and what we are talking about.
|
only because i don't have any money lol
|
"thrifty" was one of the words I wanted to use - but I didn't think of it at the time.
I like "thrifty" - |
