In a recent study from the University of Texas at Austin, 46 percent of respondents described themselves as "dog people," and just 12 percent were self-described "cat people." Of the remaining respondents, 28 percent described themselves as lovers of both dogs and cats, while 15 percent said that they were neither.

Researchers believe it may be that some people naturally mesh better with the characteristics of a dog, and others mesh better with a cat.

Me, too. And if I visit someone with cats or dogs, guess who the animal wants to sit with!!! Even though I like animals, it is not worth taking medicine all of the time. As my kids have said - we get to spoil the neighbors dog but don't have to take care of her on a daily basis!

While I *like* dogs, I just don't have the fortitude to take care of one.

Cats, on the other hand, are (usually) more independent, and are affectionate in spurts instead of the unconditional THERE'S MY OWNER!!! that dogs have...

Cats don't bark at all hours of the night everytime the wind blows, and I don't have to chase them down the street as they run after a squirel!

Your dog looks like ours....We are dog people ...have 4 two are geriatric. One is 8 and one is almost a year old. They keep me company as I am home alone a lot.
