Oh my, I live in Indiana and has been snowing here today, so far about 3 inches or so, but now starting to come down hard and big flakes. We are to get up to 8 inches of snow. It is now blowing so watch out Indiana. A few of our counties are under a snow emergency. We are staying inside tongiht!

Karen

stitchinMamaw 02-05-2010 02:49 PM

They have declared state of emergency here . Roads are already pretty bad . A totally sewing day for me . It's not suppose to stop until tomorrow evening ! Annie

craftybear 02-05-2010 02:50 PM

You take it easy and just stay inside and sew, sew, sew!

Karen

dsj 02-05-2010 04:35 PM

Craftybear are you okay? Do I need to come and shovel you out? I just saw the weather on the news. We are supposed to get a little but not like that. Wow!! I will ck to see if you are in the chat room later. Be safe.

Daphne

dsj 02-05-2010 04:37 PM

Annie, I am sure it will be beautiful to look at but wow!! Be safe and warm and have sewing.

Lockeb 02-05-2010 04:41 PM

This is crazy....we always have tons of snow here and there's barely anything on the ground this year....it's crazy....the weather system as done a 360 everywhere....

lots2do 02-05-2010 04:44 PM

lockeb-
It's the same here in NH. We are supposed to miss this storm as well. I didn't even bother to bring my boots home from work today.

stitchinMamaw 02-05-2010 05:37 PM

Want me to send you some snow ? lol Annie

stitchinMamaw 02-05-2010 05:39 PM

Oh drat , it's sleeting now ! More problems ! Annie

lots2do 02-05-2010 05:58 PM

Well, I wouldn't mind one snow day so make sure you don't send that snow on a weekend! :)
lots2do...tomorrow...

oldswimmer 02-05-2010 06:32 PM

My son just called and said the DC area was getting a forecast of 24". That is crazy! I think they have gotten more there than we have in Nebraska. And another one coming next week.
Be careful in that slippery stuff!

stitchinMamaw 02-05-2010 06:34 PM

We aren't going anywhere . I might go outside the front door but no farther . Have to take our dog out . Annie

littlehud 02-05-2010 06:39 PM

Your pics are pretty, but not if you have to be there. We are getting a little snow here. Nothing like you.

katier825 02-05-2010 06:43 PM

Althought I don't miss the weather now that I'm in FL, I don't get to take snow days anymore...just mental health days. Perfect to stay in and sew! Take care.

Sheila Elaine 02-05-2010 06:53 PM

I'm in NE Alabama, we've had lots of rain lately, but in 40s & 50s most days & cold at night. I can handle that better than snow & sleet. I lived in that in Kentucky, Missouri & Germany & was so thankful when the Army sent us to California, then TX. I'm back in AL, my home state for about 27 years. We've had some snow, but nothing like the North & Midwest gets. You'll bundle up & stay safe. TTUL

Lneal 02-05-2010 06:57 PM

Here in Ohio we are getting blasted by snow and wind. So cold!!

janRN 02-05-2010 07:06 PM

Got home from work at 6:00 and there was about an inch of snow on ground. It's 10:00 here now and there's about 7 inches and it's coming down hard. I've never seen such big snowflakes. It's beautiful but there's also a thin layer of ice under it. Glad it's on the week-end. Did any one see pictures of the grocery stores on tv? Shelves were stripped bare.
Everyone stay warm and safe and off the roads if possible. Preferably with some good quilting to do.

grammynan 02-05-2010 07:17 PM

I'm in south central Pennsylvania and they're calling for 20-24" by the time it's done tomorrow. DC is supposed to get up to 30". My twins live down there and they said everyone is freaking out!! Come on spring!

I got 24 inches here also. Took my trusty yard stick out and measured.
 In two hours of shoveling I only cleared a space of about a yard wide and three yards long. Trees are laying on the ground. Good news didn't lose electricity!

stitchinMamaw 02-07-2010 04:56 AM

We didn't lose electricity either thank goodness . We even had fog ! Some places had thunder snow . That's sure a weird phenomenon ! We have more snow in the forecast 2 days this coming week ! %^&* Annie

SPRING IS ON IT'S WAY

mjsylvstr 02-07-2010 05:04 AM

THE ABOVE IS NOT NJ....IT'S FLORIDA.......

NJ IS IN THE SAME SITUATION AS THE REST OF THE SURROUNDING STATES...

JUST HOUGHT YOU COULD USE A BIT OF GREEN SHOWING THROUGH....

stitchinMamaw 02-07-2010 05:06 AM

Oh , is that what the ground looks like ? Thanks for the pic ! This is the coldest and the most snow we've had in years . Usually the snow misses us and hits Pa and farther North. Must have been our turn this year . Annie

mjsylvstr 02-07-2010 05:14 AM

friend in Richmond feels the same way.......I sure am glad that I am where I am !

stitchinMamaw 02-07-2010 05:19 AM

This is oue 2nd major storm ! I am so ready for spring ! Please , oh pretty please . Annie

Quilt Mom 02-07-2010 05:26 AM

I hope the trees in your pictures don't loose any of their branches. The snow looks so heavy...

Are you safe and warm? I hope you are not one of those who have lost power.

Sorry I am not close enough to help dig you out. We could have a grand old time. We had some very heavy snow Friday. First time since we moved to NE for the heavy snow. Usually the snow comes with bitter cold and a lot of wind. But the temperature is sitting right near freezing, so the snow is heavy, and packs well. It's a bear to shovel, but makes wonderful snow forts and snowballs! I can't spend my time inside when we get a snow like that! Now to find the neighbor kids!

stitchinMamaw 02-07-2010 05:44 AM

We're fine . Thanks for asking . Just cold and buried in the snow . LOL.This was on the news : Hundreds crowded Dupont Circle in D.C. for a snowball fight organized online. Ended up being a lot more showing up ! Annie

Bailey's mom 02-07-2010 05:45 AM

Hang in there all!!
Lots of tea and sewing and you should be fine!
Take my advice as living here in the midwest...DREAM FLOWERS and SUNSHINE!!!
YES the winter days get to me every year but now that
I have found this site and all of my new friends this year has been so much better!!!
Hugs!!

stitchinMamaw 02-07-2010 05:47 AM

I'm formerly from the midwest , too . Illinois . Annie

lots2do 02-07-2010 07:27 AM

We may get hit on Wednesday from the next storm to come through. Missed this one though.
lots2do

stitchinMamaw 02-07-2010 10:25 AM

Well my friend maybe it's your turn  lol. We have cardinals and bluejays [ usually nested in our nearby trees .] I haven't even seen them or heard them either . I hope nothing happened to them . My pretty birds . Annie

quilterj 02-07-2010 11:40 AM

Oh how I wish we lived where it snows. We used to live in Il., now in Ga. But I guess if I lived there I probably would be saying the opposite.

stitchinMamaw 02-07-2010 11:53 AM

The sun has come out now . Boy is it glary outside ! We can see the road now . Some of the snow has fallen off the pine trees . too . I just hope this doesn't thaw too fast , causes flooding ! Annie

lots2do 02-07-2010 12:55 PM

I have one lone chickadee here huddled in the bushes by the bird feeder...haven't seen a cardinal for quite a while or a blue jay either.
Hope things return to normal in your neck of the woods soon,
lots2do

shaverg 02-07-2010 01:27 PM

You could send me some. Use to live in Virginia. Miss the snow, no snow in Sunny, Southern California, it is depressing to have blue sky most of the time and I am not kidding. Although we have finally had some rain the last couple of weeks and I love it.
