Good advice. I was gifted with the ability to spell anything correctly and pronounce words as well. I sometimes think that folks forget we have dictionaries to help us and we shouldn't expect people to "overlook" our errors. To me, that is being lazy, but then I am very old and lack the patience I once had.

Pfaff is my aunt's name. The "a" sounds like the a in father. Faff
I agree with the others in this post.

Advice and advise are used incorrectly a lot. You can give someone advice. That's a noun. When you give them advice, you advise them. That's a verb.
I would advise you to follow my advice.

Border and boarder: I have a border on my quilt, but my boarder did not pay for his room and board this month.
Maybe my boarder can help me with my border.

youtube.com ha videos for "how to pronounce_________" for many words.

Sometimes there are variations with those videos, too.

(Just a quick chuckle - My DD’s name is Nina, but we pronounce it Ny-Na.) Now that I have everyone mixed up, I will just go play in my sewing room...

Try Pfaff. rhymes with staff.
I'll try: Cafe Fassett
Bernina--Burnina
Janome--accent the "E"

Here's one for all you nurses out there: centimeter. When used in OB/delivery to measure the size of the cervix opening, it's pronounced 'son-a-meter'. When used to describe the size of a lesion, cut, tumor, etc, it is 'cent-a-meter.

When I lived in Germany the Pfaff machine was pronounced Foff (like loft without the "t") and I still say it this way today.
