My DD always brought home strays with the promise to find them "good homes." Turns out that "good home" was always ours. Somehow they turned out to be the best pets.

You already ARE her parents and bless you for helping save this dog.
You're never too old to add joy to your life. After the loss of my beautiful Hunter, my avatar, we are about to add another dog to our family. I'm 70, DH 71 and we just can't imagine living the rest of our lives dogless.

It was when you went to "just take a look at her"......been there, done that.

That's a beautiful story! As the song goes: Grace "had you at Hello". Once you're past the difficult beginning stage you won't know what you did without her. Kudos to you for giving her a loving home!

You should teach her to bark whenever you say "Say good night Gracie!"

I can't remember ever paying for any of my pets. Somehow they show up when least expected. After cleaning them up, getting the knots out of their fur, taking them to the vet, getting them healthy & naming them they adopt us & fit right into the family. Right now we're down to 2 cats (Smokey & Bandit). Bandit has only been a part of the family about 3 months, but has made himself right at home. I have the feeling a dog will be in our future before the summer's over. We live in the country so we have lots of room outside & inside our house & hearts. I've loved them all!

The whole "foster home" idea is a complete nonsense. The second you drive any place, pick them up and name them...you are done for She sounds like a sweetie...hope you have many happy years together.
