What type of bird is your avatar? Are they wild in your area?

I just love learning about other countries. We have some pretty birds in different parts of the USA, but I haven't seen anything this colorful!

The bird is a Rainbow Lorikeet, they are a nectar eating small parrot from the east coast of Australia.
We don't get them where I live but we see them when we go to the coast, they all are so friendly and will eat out of your hands, they are such clowns and their antics really make us laugh. That photo was taken where we go on our annual holidays, they are gorgeous birds.
This is a photo of DS with a bunch of them.
There is another gorgeous parrot that live in the same area and sometime we also get them here at home, the King Parrot, this is a photo of DD with a pretty boy King parrot.
If you haven't notice I love birds

Gosh! So pretty!!! Wish we had pretty wild birds --- our wild ones that are prevalent are white sea gulls or black ravens and crows.

The birds are so beautiful and so are your children. The views in your photos are wonderful. It looks very relaxing there. Thank you for sharing.

Awesome birds and pics! I love birds too but rescuing jack russells beagles and cats doesn't make for room for birds. I wouldn't do that to them- any of them!

Thank you Woody! I can't believe that they are wild! I guess we have scared our birds so much that they would never dream of getting that close. Unless you are talking ducks when you have a piece of bread... then they only want to 'grab and run' and sometimes the grab includes the fingers!

That King parrot sure is vibrant!

I love birds too, but unfortunately so does my cat :( when she gets a chance.
