I always wait until I get a big notice on the magazine saying this is your last issue. Usually a better renew price is offered then too.

I quit subscribing. It seemed that within 2 or 3 months of receiving my magazine I was getting a notice to renew. I even had one that I know I had a 2 yr subscription and they only sent magazines for 1 yr. At that rate I can buy off the rack and have a different variety or none at all. My local library carries a good selection and I can even check out back issues. Can't beat that.

When I get stuff like that I tear it up or just put it whole back into the return envelope and mail it back to them. They usually pay for the postage anyhow.....they don't take long to remove me from their files!

This seems to be working so far. LOL...I clicked on a sweepstakes thing for Oprah, I got a bill and one magazine. I tore it up and wrote no thanks! It's taken care of....I told them years ago they had to much advertisement and not enough articles. Some things never change....

I do the same thing but include charities now. After knowing what CEO's are being paid am not so generous. Sad.

I just got Good Housekeeping in the mail with a notice attached on the front. It says auto renewal? Send no money now, that my sub will be renewed unless I say cancel?
I wonder if mags will start doing this now in order to keep subscribers?
Good Housekeeping is a nice mag for me, so I will renew.
Guess we need to be on our toes and watch now.

Personally, I wouldn't do an "auto" subscription. You might get charged MUCH more than you really wanted to pay.

My sub is not up till Sept, and I can go look to see what the charge will be online, if it is not what I want to pay, I can cancel right then and there.

Be careful with stuffing their stuff back into pp envelopes.
remove all your personal info from all of it. look on the back of the envelope it may have a note on it saying "do not tamper with envelope." meaning it is wrong to fill it and mail it back on their 42cents Someone I know was called on this by the post office.
Make sure you remove personal info of every paper and even catalogs on the order page.
