Congratulations! I would spend it a little at a time and make it last as long as I could! What fun!

PS I used to have a cockatiel like the one in your avatar.

Congratz! I'd spend half on what I love looking at but never have the money to buy and the other half on the stuff I'm always stuck buying because it's always forgotten like batting, background fabric, thread, needles ect.

If you would post some of the fabric you buy, it would be fun to see.

Yea!!! Good for you. I should get back into August and finish visiting the shops. In June it was 130 shops, but I see for August it is 157!

As for what to buy, is there a new ruler or two you've been eyeing, or a special mat? Look through the books, too. Those can get expensive. Patterns? Rotary cutter blades (especially if you don't get them at Harbor Freight or need a size other than 45mm)? And, of course, as others have said, batting and/or lots of fabric for backing, borders, fillers, background, etc. depending on what you already have.

Another idea might be to plan a quilt and buy all the fabric, batting, thread, etc for that one item and know you will have something special from it all, something that won't get used up here and there. That's what I'm planning to do with the $200 gift certificate for the quilt shop that I got from the staff when I retired from teaching last year.

I'd plan a bit before deciding. What is really special to you? I'd probably get something that would be exciting for me that I would consider a luxury or a bit extravagant so that you could make a really special quilt...as I said something that you might not spend your own hard-earned money on. Just my thoughts.
