Hello ladies!

I will be looking for a new vacuum here shortly. My two year old Hoover bit the dust. It was a piece of junk from the beginning though so I half expected it. The hoses never fit properly and I could never use the attachments for it. I was a housekeeping supervisor for years and I know how to care for machinery so this is just unacceptable .But then I probably got longer out of it than most. It seems like most everything is so cheaply made these days.

I have two pugs and they shed a lot so I vacuum frequently. I keep one vacuum upstairs and one downstairs to cut down on wear and tear . The machine I still have working (downstairs) is the same model as the one that just died --only it was made 6 years ago. I definitely need a machine with attachments because our stairwell is currently carpeted.

Can anyone recommend a vacuum model that they have bought and used for the last year and LIKE?

It's not one I have, but it's the one I will buy after we move (and no longer have a central vacuum cleaner) -- a Miele canister vacuum, whichever one I can afford. Will be sure to get a Hepa filter as we have three cats and several in the family who are allergic.

Edit: The Miele vacuums are made in Germany. Check online for reviews from users.

Did you contact Hoover? In my experience with a Hoover shampooer, they are great at resolving issues with their products. I still have my Hoover shampooer after 14 years. It has never been serviced but after using it for over 2 years, the original leaking, defective water tank was replaced fast and free of charge by Hoover.

My Hoover vaccum lasted for 9 years without ever being serviced. The only reason I got a new one is because after using it so long and having dogs, when I vacuumed I could smell dog hair. I now have a Shark Professional and love it.

I have been using the Hoover Wind Tunnel for over 10 years and like it a lot. I recently got a Neato robotic vacuum, and I love it! It's so nice to let it do the work, even though I have to carry it upstairs when I want it work up there. I know it doesn't do as good a job as I would with the Hoover, but I'm not complaining, and neither is the Neato.

Prism - I bought a Miele about 15 years ago and was extremely disappointed. It never did work very well, and I left it behind when we moved. I was so disappointed, because the reviews for it were really good.

I love my dyson pet vacuum, but it is pricey. It sucks everything up really well. cleans up quickly.

I hVw two dysons. One canister and one of those slim cordless sticks. I like them a lot. Spendy but for us worth it. I think we have discussed vacuums before if you want to try the search function

i have a kirby made in the 60's. It will outlast me and probably my daughter as well. They are expensive but you'll never buy another one and you can always get them serviced. My dealership has one for sale for 279 dollars it looks like it maybe a model from the 20's but they just do not stop.

I would buy a good Shark vacuum, the one with the best reviews. I've own a top of the line Miele, an upright Miele and a Dyson that had to be trashed in 5 years. They're just not worth what you pay. Get the Shark for under $200 and throw it out in 3-5 years and get a new one. I'm sorry for the landfill waste but NOTHING lasts anymore.

We have used different brands and kinds of vacuum cleaners. Due to my age, it is hard to use heavier ones. I found Dyson vacuum stick on sale at Costco, and it has been easy to use and it does a great job. There are a few attachments as well. We still use the heavier cleaners, just not as often.

I have several Dysons. One downstairs, one upstairs and one at the Laundromat where I clean. One is a # 33 and one is a #65. They seem to do the job for me and the 4 cats and never need bags.
