You can't go wrong with an IPad. Son is a medical student and loves his, and it needs to be reliable all the time.

Have you considered an Asus transformer? You can put it onto a keyboard and so it is very versatile. It is also a case of whether you prefer Android or not, as well.

I agree, the Ipad is the way to go. So many apps, (many free) and it's easy to use. I have a mac also and would never go back to a PC

I have the Samsung Galaxy tablet and I really like the fact it fits in my purse. A "pad" is too big.

-I have always had Mac products. Being a teacher and using Apple products in the schools, I had to have the same at home so that what I did at home would transfer over to school. I also own a lap top that I have a program on it called boot camp. Boot camp allows me to allocate so much memory over to a PC side of my computer. It is an advantage as I have a MAC and a PC. I use the PC for the quilt programs that only are good for PC's. That way, I have the best of both worlds. So I suggest you ask about boot camp program. I would love to get an IPad but being on a limited budget, that is something that is off in the far away future. I would also love an Iphone but alas, Apple is the cadillac of the computer devices. Well worth the money. I love my computer and laptop and would not trade them for anything.
