Although I think of my late dad often, this Father's day led me decide to pay tribute to a time in his life.

Posted are pics of a sewing kit/box he made for my mom during WW2 while on board ship in the south Pacific. All the materials were scraps of what he could find on board ship. The hinge, latches & handle were hand made of some type of brass he found on board. He hand painted the message to her. It is a special treasure to me.

I was between 8-11 at the time, (seems 100 yrs ago now) so I don't remember when she actually received it, but I can imagine it must have been quite emotional.

The items in the box are still what my mom, Margie Alyne Glenn-Page put in there - I don't actually use it, as it is really a memory of both of them. I also posted these on Facebook, so here's to my dad - George Allen Page, Jr., a GREAT MAN!!!! LOVE YA DADDY!!

Beautiful. Both the box and the story. They must have loved each other very much.

I hope this is passed down the family and well loved. Such a treasure. I don't think like you I could ever use the items in it, all I would want to do is, look at them and feel them. Beautiful box.

    Wow!! What a beautiful box.

My wedding ring was made by my late Father in Law for his Mom. It was carved from an Australian schilling.

that's absolutely gorgeous!! My dad was a George (Jr) too. His father was KIA during WWII, and my dad never met his father.

You have a great treasure, hold onto that forever!! It's in wonderful condition.

I am in tears reading your story and seeing the box your Daddy made. There is nothing that shows more love for another than a hand made gift, especially one that relates to the activities that are so often used.

Thank you so much for sharing your story and your special regard for your Mom and your Dad.
