Default The Right Price

A friend asked me to find out how much a machine would be worth. Her friend passed away and her husband wants to sell her Bernina Artista 165 embroidery machine with two small hoops. I see one on ebay for about 300, but not sure if that is the going price for it. Does anyone know who I can find out from? Do I call a quilt store that sells Berninas?

I see some going for a lot more than that on Ebay. You could check Craigslist, too, but yes, calling a Bernina dealer would be a good idea.

Very difficult question. unless you go through many hoops you won't see what they really sold for on e-bay.

A reputable Bernina sales place would only sell one if they had srviced it and that would raise the price quite a bit.

Those who might want to buy it from you may give you a low value. Location makes a huge difference too and whether or not you can demo the embroidery.

sorry I can't tell you a $ amount.

One can go to the "completed listings" on ebay to see what items sold for - or even if they sold.

One needs to be a "member" of e-bay to see them.

I was at an estate sale last summer where an Artista 185 with the embroidery unit, several feet and a couple hoops sold for $475 here. There may be differences where you live.

Exactly. Click on "Advanced Search" (it's a tiny blue link at the end of the search bar, kind of underneath it) and use it instead of the regular search bar. A page will come up with another search bar and lots of filtering options, one of which is to search only completed sales. That's what you need to click and get a list of, completed sales only.
