Default Sew Sweatshirt Logo Onto Another Sweatshirt

I have a sweatshirt that I dearly love but the neck, bottom and cuffs are really ragged so I was thinking I could just cut the front logo off and attach it to another sweatshirt but I don't exactly know how to do this. Would it need a stabilizer fabric underneath, could I just zigzag around the logo or would it need more stitching to hold it in place. Would appreciate any ideas of how to do this. The logo is approx. 14 inches by 18 inches.

I have seen sweatshirts with quilted sweatshirt patches on them. Maybe you could do it that way. If I were doing it I would fuse interfacing to the back then cut out the logo. You could then fuse the logo onto the new sweatshirt and stitch around the edge. Can't guarantee it would work but it might be worth trying.

You might check Nancy's Notion. She has a lady on her show that redo the collars and the cuffs.

I think you posted this in the proper place since this basically sewing and not quilting. JMHO.

Years ago a friend did a reverse applique type thing with sweatshirts that looked pretty neat. She would sew a piece of fabric to the wrong side of the sweatshirt and then cut close to the stitching on the right side, so the new piece was revealed. The edges of the cut sweatshirt would just curl a little and didn't seem to ravel. They were cute. So I don't think you would really need to worry about the edges if you liked the curly look. Good luck. Would love to see what you come up with.

a lot of sweatshirts have raw edge applique on them, do that, maybe a light wt stabilizer to get you going and not to shift. good luck, show us what you're doing.

Some good ideas here...whatever you do use iron on lightweight interfacing on both the logo and the new fabric to stabilize and prevent stretching..please share what you decide to do....

I have some wonder-under. Do you think that would work as a stabilizer.

You could even just sew 1/4" from the raw edge and leave it for a worn/frayed look. I did that when I made a throw pillow out of an old sweatshirt and used the logo from the sleeve on the back.

If you sew on patches, you may want to cut out the fabric in the back -- I learned the hard way that sweatshirts get bulky fast.
