I thought I wanted a GPS -take me out of my shoe box and I'm lost-but after my son and his family drove from the coast of N.C. to Lebanon Mo. and never seen the freeway the whole trip. They never realized how many dirt roads and small towns there are in between. The kids enjoyed the ride but the ''adults'' kept asking ARE WE THERE YET.---I think I'll stick to maps and asking people for directions.

Thanks for the good laugh. Us senior citizens can relate to it. I have a cell phone that is 15 yes old. I never turn the darn thing on. Only carry it in case I have car trouble. When I show it to people they laugh and I don't even care.

We've moved around a lot, first with the service, then w/the computer co. my DH worked for. Being a hick from the sticks I quickly learned about city traffic and how to find my way around. You GET a MAP, put it in the back seat and when you're lost, look that place up on the map and calculate your way home. Doesn't take long to figure out lots of routes you wouldn't find on any GPS, plus you get to know your community. I have driven across the US w/o a map -- but got one to find my way home -- really. Not one of my better moves. Do you suppose we could design a quilt about this?

Now that you are on the modern convenience of communication, enjoy! My kids, nieces, nephew, my DH's nieces, nephews, cousins, ect, wanted me to get on F.Book. I thought about it, and declined.
I decided I didn't want to know what someone had for supper, what they are doing the weekend, ect, ect. I would rather be quilting!!!
Mariah.

We bought my dear MIL (now departed, bless her soul) a cordless phone for Christmas when she was 88. The next time we went to see her, (about 6 months later, as she lived 3,000 miles away,) my DH asked her where her phone was? She said, "I had my nephew take it out. I always forgot to hang it up and the battery would go dead and then I would miss my phone calls. I hated it". Got to love her.
