Is the Site Search function getting worse? UPDATE: new search function for the site

I thought I was just not a very good searcher. I'm always impressed when others post a link to a thread in answer to a question that has been discussed in the past. I try searching for things and generally find myself plowing through a fair bit before I find what I'm looking for. Either that, or I have tried a search when I know exactly the key words and the search is too narrow and returns nothing. I didn't realize the search function was for titles only. That makes it more difficult, because we sure don't title threads to reflect the discussion!!
All that said - the only way I found this site was by searching for something to do with my fat quarters using Google. A thread came up in Google, and voila, I was hooked.

I wonder if the posts over a couple of years are not still here? I posted a photo of a mystery quilt from 1 1/2 years new year, and it's not here. Also a camo baby quilt, and it's not here either. I expecially wanted the camo photo since I gave the quilt away. Is there a time limit for the posts?

I just tried to search for the thread "on hemming jeans." I even looked through all my posts, not there. So I did a google search. Found it on google, but when I clicked on the thread, it said the thread I was searching for "did not exist." What the heck?
