Is the Site Search function getting worse? UPDATE: new search function for the site
#21
Found it on google, but when I clicked on the thread, it said the thread I was searching for "did not exist."

Really glad you asked this question. As long as I've been here, the Search function has been, well not great. :(
Let me illustrate with an example, currently there is a topic on the Main board with a thread title: "new Bernina 830". At the moment it is on the first page.
Try doing a Search for Bernina 830 and that thread does not even come up in the results. Maybe the Search function misses the thread titles?
With the wealth of information that has been given on here over time, if the Search function was a better one, then the board would be incredibly more valuable.

I changed the search function on the site.
The layout is simplistic, since this is just for testing. But it should work better that what we had before in terms of finding relevant posts.
Please let me know if the quality of the new search is better or not.
Also if you run into any problems, please let me know.
