We have black bears here in Vestal NY too. Have seen 4 this year so far. One with a cub, and last week...... one walked across my porch while I was sitting in my living room. It was not more than 3 feet away. BEAUTIFUL!!!! (window between us!)

I am glad to see that we are not the only ones to have a Momma bear with three cubs.. at first we thought we were imagining that there were three, but then saw her several times later with them and one day my daughter saw the three cubs up a tree down by the pond. My SIL got pictures of Mom in a tree up here but only one of the cubs can be seen in the pic.

He's a chubby baby. We have black bears galore here in the Florida Panhandle. One walked into an older fellow's kitchen (door was open). Man didn't know what to do so he barked like a dog and the bear ran away. My friend set 24 banana breads to cool out in her screen porch but a bear ripped the screen and ate them all.

We don't have them here...normally, but evidently there is one who somehow crossed the river from Ark..travelled through Miss. and is now in my town (so says the local newspaper) Hopefully he/she gets to continue on to whereever it is going. Dad called yesterday after reading the paper..wanting to know if I'd seen it.

My sis used to live in the middle of one of the Nat'l forests here in CO. She had them visit on a regular basis. She said the funniest one she saw was shen she left a plastic cooler sitting out on her front porch. Her dogs were making a fuss and when she looked out the window, there was a young bear sitting on her porch with the cooler between his legs trying to get it open.
She said it looked like a kid with his lunchbox who could not get it open fast enough... Another one reached through the screen on her back porch and dumped her trash can. She said if he had been on the ball and had a better nose he might have gotten the Sirloin steaks thawing on the counter...

Happy Day
Susan

We were driving through PA on rte. 81 and a bear was leaning back on the guard rail as if he were sitting there watching the traffic go by. It was too cool. I wish I could have taken his picture.
