Default square pillow ruffle?

I saw someone on youtube ruffle a strip that had already been sewn into a square shape to put around a pillow,
And I was wondering how she made the square before ruffling
it. I just pin on my ruffle that I make with a long strip, but when I am finished
my corners are more rounded and not pointy for a square pillow shape.

I was wondering if any of you have any bookmarked links or if you
know how to do this if you would share with me?

Thank you.

No sorry. Mine would be round without a little invisible stitches.

I wouldn't make a square pillow with a ruffle. So I have no idea.

I don't understand what you mean by "how she made the square before ruffling
it", if you cut your pillow square and gather your ruffle before sewing it onto the pillow; you would sew up to the corner, keep your needle in the down position, raise the presser foot and pivot the pillow 90 degrees and begin sewing again. Repeat for each corner. I hope this is helpful.

There are step by step instructions with illustrations here: http://sewing.about.com/od/homedecpr...llowruffle.htm. I hope you have found something here helpful. Good luck.

Here is another site with step by step instructions and illustrations and they also illustrate how to trim the corners before attaching the ruffle to give you a more professional finished product: http://cottagemagpie.com/crafts-sewi...-pillow-cover/

I did not see this link but I can tell you how I would do it. If I am understanding your question correctly, you want the corners of the pillow ruffle to be square and not rounded. To do this, I think that you would need to measure each side of the pillow and decide how full a ruffle you want, usually 1 1/2 to 2 times the length of each side. Cut pieces to this measurement plus some extra to allow you to mitre the corners. Mitre each corner before adding your gathering stitches along the inside edges. (The side that will go next to the pillow edge.). Pull in your gathering stitches and space the gathering evenly along each side. Then pin to the pillow so that the seam line for the mitered corners meets each corner neatly, pin the rest to fit each side and sew on, being careful to keep things matched at the corners. Hope this works for you.
