Default Starting a blog

Could some help me? My sister asked for my help starting a blog. For this, I am clueless. I love reading them, but I know nothing about them. Is there a charge? How does one learn how to do this?

I am also clueless on this subject, so will read the replies with interest. I'm not really clear on how to follow a blog, much less create one.

Here's a link to a site that describes the top 11 FREE blog sites, and tidbits you should know about them:
http://stylecaster.com/best-free-blog-sites/

If you're going to be a "success" at blogging, you need to have something to say, at a minimum, once a week, if not more often. Once you get set up, and get a "following", you may want to consider having ads on your site. You get paid so much per click - this varies by ad stream provider.

I had a blog several years ago... but got tired of it, as I'm too ADHD to stick to just one subject for very long. I personally tend to go in "cycles" as to what my current primary focus is on life. Right now, it's quilting... and fixing up our farm that we bought last year. I also now have two grand-babies, so as they grow old enough to come stay on the farm for a couple weeks at a time during the summer, that might would take center stage.

At one point,I was couponing... horse training... quilting... and gardening. With that much stuff going on, a blog would loose "followers" because there's not a single primary focus.

Good luck with both your search as well as the blog itself!

The first question is, what does she want to get out of her blog? Why does she want to make a blog? That will tell you a lot about where you put your blog and what it will look like.

I know one thing that someone told me: really think about your blog name because you'll have the name for a long time. The person who said this named her blog something cutesy when her son was a baby, and now he's grown and the name doesn't suit her anymore.
