Stay Safe!!

I hope everyone stays safe this week-end with the up coming
nasty weather approching the east coast. I am far enough inland to not be effected. I know that this is a big holiday week-end, but it's better to be safe than have to "run" at the last minute!

Three years ago some friends and I were vacationing in Waves on the Outer Banks, N.C. We got caught in a Nor'Easter. Being from the flatlands of central Illinois that was SCARY!!! The storm hit at high tide and we were cut off from the mainland. We got a call from the rental agency telling us to be prepared to evacuate at a moments notice. If you've ever been on the Outer Banks you know its a very narrow strip of land. Once that bridge is closed you're stuck there! My mind kept screaming, "Evacuate to where????" I guess we were supposed to go to the fire station in Avon if the water started to come over the dunes. It didn't and we were fine but the house swayed to the point of making me sick, the wind was moaning and howling through the doors, and we were so scared we stayed up most of the second night. The backside of the storm was worse than the front. Being in the "eye" was beautiful though. Looking back it was a very unique experience and once was enough.

I'm on the coast in little ol' RI and hope it passes further northeast. We need rain, but not the winds, waves, etc. That being said, we already have the waves and currents right now. Someone drowned over the weekend fishing off some rocks on the bay. The waves are vicious.

I keep trying to hurry up the rain and front that we have right now...cuz they say that this front is what will determine how close to shore Earl will get.
The sooner the front in the Midwest moves east the better for the east coast....
