Strange stuff along the side of the road...

    ... beach balls!

Saw one rolling downhill on the shoulder, as we were driving to church.

Then, saw one while driving a different route home from church.

Not the same ball, not even in the same town.

    ??

And both were miles from any beach.

Windy day? Actually they probably got lose from a high school graduation. The kids like to sneak them in and throw them around during the ceremony.

You think that's strange?!? I was doing an internship (I went back to college several years ago) with some high school kids. We were cleaning up the trash alongside a highway here in town. One of them came up to me, held up something & said "What is this"? It was a vibrator! Yes, that kind of vibrator! Boy oh boy... I wonder what the backstory to that was?!

Once my DH and I were trveling along a rather boring highway when we saw a roll of duct tape rolling down the road toward us. Got our attention, and we had something to talk about for a few minutes.

I have also wondered about all the times I have seen just a single shoe (or sneaker) on the side of the road.

How do you lose just ONE?

I always suspect a bored toddler in the backseat with a window cracked open for air........

Ok, but the shoes are usually full-sized adult ones!

I always figure the shoes were placed on the seat near enough for the child to reach, and they toss one shoe out at a time.......

A lover's quarrel? "Oh yeah? Well, to heck with you" & the shoe goes flying...

I honestly enjoy seeing what those kids do manage to sneak in and what they pull off during their "serious" walks to receive their diplomas.
As for the beachballs on the freeways, it's always upsetting to see the amount of trash that does accumulate on our roadsides. But I would have wonder about them also. And I'd like to share of the one occasion that my DH & I were traveling in California and suddenly came upon what must have been at one time a HUGE bag of those styrofoam peanuts they use in packing. They were traveling along the freeway at for the most part the same speed as most of the cars. Bouncing back and forth, over each other, rolling, bumping each other and this went on for a good 3-4 miles - seriously. Guess we were easily amuzed but we did laugh in the somewhat comic actions of the little peanuts. ;-D

A lone cushion on the road. Someones couch is now trash A laundry basket full of folded laundry on the side of the road. ???

Once my DH and I passed by an apartment complex and some woman was dumping her mans clothes out the window, a drawerful at a time. LOL if it were not so sad.

I always think maybe the lone shoe is the result of an accident. Gruesome, I know.

We live near a major university, and we see strange items along the road all the time. Usually stuff that the home-bound kids did not secure well enough on their load home! Lone shoes, misc. cushions, various bins of ??, pillows, blankets, clothes, towels, coolers, pieces of furniture or parts thereof, etc.
Be a blessing to others, as you may entertain angels unaware!

My husband many years ago, left his shoes on top of the car and drove off. When he got to his destination, one shoe was stuck on the back bumper, the other long gone. Of course that was when the back bumpers were still chrome.

I always thought the same thing. But now maybe someone was dangling a foot out a window and the shoe dropped off?
