Is there a master list somewhere?
Is there a master list somewhere that matches up the machines that are actually the same - or nearly identical - that are sold under different names and numbers? That would also include the production dates of such models? It would also be nice to know the actual manufacturer of these machines. (Kenmore being an example of various makers.)
The reason for my question:
I acquired a blind hemmer - it appears to be very similar to a Simplicity BH 600 or a Baby Lock BL 101. The instruction "leaflet" just says "The Blind Hemmer." Other than the "brand name" being different - the instructions that I pulled up on-line look the same to me for both machines.

Not really. Kenmore is a brand that Sears put on all kinds of things made by various manufacturers. Sears usually specifies the requirements for items with the Kenmore brand, and they're not always identical (or as good) as the other items sold by that manufacturer. Janome is a manufacturer of sewing machines. Janome used to sell machines in the U.S. that had the New Home brand. That's what I learned to sew on. Not all models of Janomes are Kenmores, and not all Kenmores have been manufactured by Janome.
