Default Gas prices going up again ?

Just read that they expect gas prices could spike here in the states to be $4 or more a gal by May. Did they not learn from last time around?

I don't know who "they" are or what they are supposed to learn. It is a fact of life.
quote from article

"Rising prices are an annual spring ritual, largely because of seasonal demand.

Refiners also switch from winter formulations to more expensive seasonal formulations to meet stringent environmental standards, which can tack on 15 cents a gallon, says Brian Milne of energy tracker Televent DTN."

I have already cut my outside trips to a bare minimum. Still working on a tank of gas I bought last fall.

Apparently DRIVERS did not learn from the last time, since demand is still going up.

We drive our truck to 3 places, church, grocery and doctor. Everything else is piggybacked onto these trips. Sure gets inconvient at times. And as much as possible the groceries wait for church or the doctor - sometimes that makes for a wierd menu.

I just have to wonder how much everything else is going to go up with the price going up that much over a short period of time.

How many are on a fixed income? We have to find ways to cut fixed expenses.

I think it will bring the economy down again, how many times do they need to go thru gas prices that stop spending to learn that it will only do harm?
I bet many are on fixed incomes, and what will they have to cut?

not only on fixed on incomes, but how about NO incomes..they say jobless rates are down, but they take into consideration that many who had jobs during the holiday season lost those jobs after the first of year, BUT because they worked less than 6 months, they don't get to apply for Unemployment! IN our family we have 3 of us who have not had steady work in over a year! and we get NO help!

My husband retired a year ago and I retired last May. He drives a 1999 F150 truck because he was in construction. It costs him $70 now to fill it only half full. Fortunately, I drive a hybrid Camry. Gas prices are a definite issue. Hubby retired but is doing consulting work so he does do more driving than I do.

Our big issue is traveling to visit kids who live 700-900 miles away. We have four grandkids, three under 18 months so travel for the families is hard, and we go visit. That's concerning to me.

Also on a fixed income. Sometimes it's hard to get from one SSA check to the next. If people would stop taking vacation trips and limit their vehicular use by combining everything on the same time out it would save them money and cut down the gas intake. I know it is hard to do and a lot of people don't want to take "staycations" with their kids but it would only take maybe one year to show the oil companys that we can survive without filling our gas tanks everytime we go out. Our closest store is 6 1/2 miles down the road and is not the cheapest place around! We only go there for sales and necessities. Other than that we go 23 miles away for the closest Super Wal Mart with lower prices and no SALES TAXES!!! Save a lot especially on large items!

If we opened our oil fields for drilling, drilled in our gulf and built new refinerys then we could be using American gasoline at low prices and driving where ever we wanted.
