My DH picked up our 2 yo DGS this afternoon so his Mom and Dad could get some things done and we could play with him.
The problem is my DH always ends up taking a nap and I am the only one playing with him. That was fine, we were having so much fun together.
He was on my lap and I was pretending I was going to tickle him when suddenly he reared back and caught my lower lip between my teeth and the back of his hard little head.
The pain was so much I jumped up and ran to the kitchen for some ice. My DH had awakened in time to see and hear the whole thing. The poor baby was so upset because he hurt Grandma, I had to go back and reassure him that I was okay. Meanwhile my mouth was throbbing like crazy. He crawled up in my lap and fell asleep and my DH had to get the icepack for my lip.
Fortunately the skin didn't break but I have a fat lip. It feels so strange!!
His Mom and Dad felt so bad when they got here and saw my mouth and me holding their sleeping son in my lap. It's all in a days fun for a Grandmother!!! ;)

Oh Ditter....I so understand. I had to go work one Monday and explain the large bruise on my cheekbone that came from my DGS one weekend.

Aw! I wasn't injured, but I am worn out from keeping my best friend's 5 and 2.5 year olds overnight. My dogs have barely moved since they left. I think I'm decently active--but not like they are! Whew...early to bed for me. Hope your lip feels better! What's bad is when you bite it b/c it's so puffy! Chew carefully!

Oh no! I am awaiting the arrival of my 2 grandkids ages 3 and 5 months. I will be keeping them overnight so Mom and Dad can attend their high school class reunion. Hope I don't end up with a fat lip...lol. Wish me luck!☺
Sorry about your episode, Ditter.

OMG Ditter I can see this happening! Watch out when he turns 4. Its the 'hopping year". Sometimes they hop right when you bend down to kiss them! OUCH.

I'm sorry your lip is fluffy. Ice cream helps :-) So does a martini.

Yeah, grandkids can be dangerous. A couple years ago at the end of a long Christmas Day my two oldest DGS's, then about 12 & 14 decided they would hug me, one in front and one behind. They hugged me so hard they broke a rib; I was in pain for weeks. They thought I was joking when I said, " Oh, you just broke my rib!" Now they hug me very carefully and joke about it. I hope your lip is getting better fast.

I think I have had "facial fats" from all my kids. lol Either fat lips, fat eyes, or a fat(ter) nose. I cant count the number of times one of them has hit me on the corner of my brow bone, or they hit you right in that spot on your nose that drops you to your knees and brings tears to your eyes!

I hope the swelling goes out of your lip quick!

Oh, dear, I hope you feel better soon. I will become a grandmother at the end of the month. Oh, boy!
