Default Traveling I-10 in SW Louisiana

Beware! There is awful mess traveling E on I-10 near Lake Charles, La, especially during 5:00 traffic. Got in wrong lane to detour, actually it was a mess too, with trucks taking the 210 exit. Took us an hour and fifteen mins. to go about 6 miles. Normally less than 10 min. trip. I had my 87 year old mother with me. Thank goodness she is in good health and we'd stopped in east Houston for a break. What a shame to have a bridge that important be shut down to one lane in each direction. People were passing and cutting in on wrong side of traffic and going off median to feeder road and switching back in.. NOT one patrolman out there directing that mess! Makes me sad for the working people at the plants that have to face that everyday. OK off the rant. Just beware if you are traveling that way, to go in middle of the day, not rush hour.

Glad you made it through safely. What a mess. There certainly should have been police, as you said.
