I, too, have a few pieces my father built in my sewing room, though his were not specifically made for storing sewing stuff. They are dear to me as are the many quilts my mother made. I let go of most of the stuff they bought over the years, but the things they actually made with their own hands I will keep forever.

I was fascinated that the upper shape of the sewing cabinet doors were identical to those of your china cabinet. If the china one were purchased later, this is amazing. I love the older things and feel that they connect us to our past.

What priceless jewels. Yes, that is a pretty tablecloth too. Lucky is the woman, who has a handy husband. I don't think in past years keeping a massive hoard of fabric was all that important. They bought, they sewed it up, and moved on to the next project.
