We have a 3' fiber optic tree and put it up on pool table, sometimes with train. DH fell Fri and broke several of his ribs and at 82 not sure how fast they will heal, so maybe train, maybe not. Keeps most of the dogs our of tree.

We always use blue lights on an artificial tree. I've loved blue lights since childhood. When we go to outdoor lit tree displays, the blue ones are my favorites. The light they cast is so faint that the wiring just disappears and it looks like the lights are floating.

My 14 yr. old Martha Stewart Berry Mountain 4.5 ft. artificial tree is so beautiful with red berries on the branches and white lights. The branch spacing is perfect for ornaments. It almost will not hold together any longer, but I have not found one I like better so keep babying it along. I found one of the same on ebay but it was sold.

I use a 8 ft multi color pre lit artificial tree that sets up umbrella style. Takes about 5 min from box to done. I stick artificial poinsettia stems in the tree and add ornaments. It looks spectacular even though it took about 30 min from start to finish.

Before I had to downsize last year, I had an upside-down tree where the branches on the top were wider than those on the bottom. Sounds weird but it was great because the ornaments hung straight down and didn't get caught on the lower branches. You can kind of see the shape in this picture. My grandkids were 11 and 13.
