I remember reading a thread about Wen shampoo not too long ago, and I wanted to alert anyone on this board who uses the product that people are alleging that it causes baldness and hair loss. Here is a link:

I recently purchased a product from Sally's called HairOne that is supposed to be similar to Wen and I am wondering if I should toss it. It is less expensive than Wen, but it cost me $30.

FYI; It is being said that Wen plugs the hair follicle, and that is how it causes hair loss. So beware.

I saw that report. I think part of the problem is they want you to wash your hair with it everyday. Of course the more you wash your hair, the more shampoo they can sell. if your scalp makes oil, I figure it is supposed to keep your hair healthy. I try to wash my hair only every 3-4 days and just use regular shampoo and conditioner.

Sally's generally has a good return policy. You should be able to return your product instead of tossing $30.

I heard issues with Wen also. I stick to a sulfate-free shampoo (I color my hair, so this keeps my color longer), and only shampoo once a week. I condition twice a week.

I used wen for awhile, about 2-3 weeks. my hair was greasy. I was told it's not a shampoo but a conditioner.
my son washes with it now.

I was a hairdresser for over 35+ years. I washed my hair everyday. Everyday since I've been alive I have had very fine and not at all thick hair. I continue to wash my hair everyday. Often with Dawn. When the hair is dirty or just feels like yuck, wash it. I have 3-4 different shampoos in my bathroom. I used to color my hair and did a lot to it. This class action suit in my opinion is pure bogus. Some one is trying to get a lot of money. If you are losing your hair and are having an allergic reaction that started shortly after then "quit using it. Simple as that. These bald spots are systemic. Most thinning of the hair is either systemic, related to stress, auto immune or like my cousin, they were consistently bleaching and tolerating that burning that often comes with the process and scabbing to where it has damaged the root follicle. Now if these clients are consuming internally then yes that has a strong possibility of messing up your system. I worked in a "brand" salons and now I don't. If you have an allergy to any citrus product be careful. Wen has a heavy oil extract base and weighs the hair down. That is what body oil and grease will do when there is a build up. I used products other than the salon and I have to watch the citrus, mainly lemon and orange extracts. Makes me itch. Also fragrance and dyes that are in many of the shampoos. But most baldness is due to systemic, stress and allergens. I should not forget many medicines and treatments such as chemo will affect as we have seen in many cancer patients. If one is allergic to a certain oil extract base that may cause baldness but not everyone. Many people behind this are other brands trying to sabotage one company. I have shampooed a lot of heads in those 35+ years. I do know a little about it!

I've heard about this but have no idea if the claims are valid or not. Since I"m past 60 and have hair past my shoulders, I no longer wash it everyday. I wash and condition twice a week max. I've had 2 different hairdressers tell me to do this. I used Wen a few times but didn't like the way my hair looked/felt after the first day. I think you do need to use it everyday and I don't want to wash that often. I use Pureology and really like it. No sulfates. I've recently discovered their Nano Gold formula (I think that's what it's called) and its awesome. Very expensive so I use it once every 2 or 3 weeks. I highly recommend it.
