I decorate a cake for you and you cut my hair. That was my most recent barter. One time I made some exam gowns for my Doctor and my visits were free. That has been some of my experiences.

Trading goods or services.

I'll mow your yard if you fix my car.

I'll make you a quilt if you paint my house.

Trading services and/or merchandise for services and/or merchandise of EQUAL value. Basically conducting business without the exchange of money.

I agree with the others. You do something for them, they do something for you.

My idea of bartering is swapping one goods or service for another persons goods or service. For example, say I want your cow but can not pay you. I offer to make you a quilt for your cow, you agree. That is what I think of when I think of bartering. The trade is agreed upon IN ADVANCE and carried out. But not always at the same time. Like I will make you a quilt for Christmas if you rototill my garden this spring.

Yep, meaning also, no money or maybe a small amount of money exchanged in some cases.....like a service, you cook and I'll wash the dishes.

Bartering is trading goods and/or services without money or middleman. An example would be I offer to piece a top for you and ask you to quilt my quilt for me. You might accept the deal or you could counter-offer. No deal until both of us agree.
