laalaaquilter, I thought I was the only one who love "hippopotamuses and hippopotumuses love me too!"
8-) My DH bought me one this Christmas that moves his mouth while he sings the song.

We have been in the minority but we are a growing one, I ran into a lady at the book store this past Christmas who collects them too and she was telling me about some childrens book about a hippo and a tortoise that I've got to get next.
Hippos totally rock!

I have a collection of cat nick nacks that my mother started for me when I was little. But my kitchen is a collection of apples. Anything with an apple theme. I also have a huge music collection. From lps to mp3's lol. And I have a wonderful collection of craft magazines and books. Cross stitch, quilts, plastic canvas, crafts of all kinds.

Maybe you should ask "what DON'T I collect?"
Let's see...I have some cookie jars, lots of nutcrackers, those Christmas houses that light up, green sheep (those are hard to find), Angel figurines playing anything that can be construed as bluegrass instruments, rubber stamps, quite a few snowmen, probably some other things that skip my mind at the moment, oh, and fabric of course! I also save lots of things, thinking I will create something with them....like Christmas cards.

How could I forget, I collect basenjis, really of any sort. Figurines, suffed, books, etc
A few years ago the Basenji Club of America worked with the Steiff Company, and made available Steiff Basenjis - I have 2.
Then once I was in an antique shop and just glanced through the books, and there was one, written in the 40's by a guy that did some mercenairy work or something. Though it was only a couple of paragraphs, in the whole book, he talked about the barkless dogs that the natives had. I bought it for something like $2. Basenjis were not recognized by the AKC until sometime in the 50's, this was quite a find.
My artistic daughter had a job at a local pottery place, and I have a few bassenji things she made.
I have a few iron basenji yard ornaments, and lots of other little things
