It is a whacha-ma-call-it. Also known as a thing-a-ma-jig.

Isn't that the truth! I know when I bought my Janome I did get alot of attachments with it but then I also added some others and wow did my total jump up quickly! A Ruffler which is what she has sales for $25 -$30 dollars. Not cheap! My Janome walking foot was $30. One of my hoops was over $100. You really have to think before you buy some of them how much will you really use it to justify purchasing. My mom bought me an old Singer already in a cabinet for my 13 Bday I still have it and with it I received an accordian style sewing box full of accessories & notions. She bought it all for under $100. What a deal!

I'm quite sure it is a ruffler attachment.

This foot is for gathers. The fabric is fed through and you set the gauge. Mine works very well on my 1949 Singer.

Its a ruffler attachment. Here is a video on how to use it! Easier than me explaining! I have one & use it alot when making dress, curtains, aprons, ruffled edges on baby quilts, etc.
