never saw them but knew what they were for. Now, will you use them?

I have seen those, and do all of you remember the spoolies, little compact hair dryers, when our mom's or ourselves made the bobbie pin curls to set our hair, or those brush rollers that made the hair nice, but I slept on a few that killed my poor head until the next morning? At least most of those didn't dry out my hair though. I also remember all the pink curling rods with those Toni Permanents.

I remember using spoolies when I was a kid, and I had the curlers posted in the pic when I was a teen. I seem to recall there was a heated box that the rods fit in to heat up? Maybe a quilter found some use for them and that's how they ended up in the box...

I had rag curlers -- and oh those knots were hard to sleep on. They raveled a bit and the strings would get caught in my hair making it more painful to take them off than put them on. I used to wish we could buy spoolies but the rags were free. I used heated rollers many years ago, but they had pokies on them to help hold my hair.
