Having lunch in the CBS Broadcast Center cafeteria with my friend Vina, chatting about our weekend plans. A young man named Mel ran in shouting "the president's been shot at" (shot AT, not shot) and the whole cafeteria cleared out as we all rushed back to our offices. This was the building from which CBS broadcast all its news shows and suddenly the same Walter Cronkite we'd see almost daily around the building or at the restaurant across the street was making history with his emotional broadcast.

I was 12 years old. I had stayed home that day and was ironing while watching the procession. I saw the whole thing happen. I was also watching when Oswald got shot. Our school (public) was also out and I watched the funeral. What a moment in History.

It was our fifth wedding anniversary. My husband was at work and I was home with our baby. I had the radio on and was getting a baby bottle out of the refrigerator when I heard the news. I remember just standing there in shock and, of course, followed the news on tv after that. It was one of those times where you never forget the exact moment when you heard the news. My husband came home early that day and we spent the evening following the news and trying to make sense of all that had happened.

we were married in 1963 and we at work when a worker who was on the night shift came to the factory and told everyone what happened. We were all in shock and up here in Canada we felt this very much like the rest of the world. It was a very sad day and we think of this tragedy every year .Still brings tears to the eyes. so sad

I was in 4 th grade and I remember it being so sad and teachers Crying. My parents were glued to TV and although I didn't quite get it I knew it was terrible. I do remember knowing or it being explained it was our President, and I do remember seeing on TV Ruby killing Oswald. We had a housekeeper and I remember it being unusual that my parents let her watch TV with them and that was wierd too!

I was pregnat for daughter #3 and was on a my hands and knees waxing the dining room floor when a neighbor came over to see if we had the TV on. Such a sad time - seeing little John-John follow the caisson was heart breaking.

I was in the third grade. My classmates and I knew something was wrong because when we came back from recess our teacher had been crying. No announcement was made. I didn't find out until I got home and saw my mom crying that President Kennedy had been assasinated. I was so young that I couldn't appreciate the magnitude of what had happened.
