BG (stands for beautiful girl; name given to her at the shelter) gave up her dignity a looooooooong time ago!!! Love her anyway! She is a shepherd-akita mix and weighs about 90+ lbs!!!

Mine sleeps like that too. And if not on the couch with me on the floor right where I want to put my feet when I get up!

Is it true that if a cat or dog sleeps with it's belly exposed that it's very comfortable and secure in that environment?

Yes it is true. The abdomen is the must vulnerable spot on an animal so they are constantly protecting it. I have a bunch of "back sleepers" at my house!!!
