What does "da" mean?? I've never heard it.

QUOTE=romanojg;5055817]Yes, the word either. For instance on the decorating shows they say they are going to put the side tables on either side of the bed; no you just put them on both sides of the bed, that's not either. That gets me everytime and the do it all the time. We were brought up for the words to mean one thing and now they act like they are interchangeable. And of course its the kids favorite word "da". My 5yr old grandson said that to me in the store the other day and I about jerked him out of his jacket. I told him to not ever use that word with me again and what ever I was going to get him went back on the shelf.[/QUOTE]

I'd run fast and hard! Another one is the server who asks if "we've" decided what "we" want to eat or drink. I have been known to reply that I didn't know if she/he had decided, but I needed more time! LOL

Since the first Persian Gulf war when the term "embedded" was used constantly when referring to the reporters that were with the troups our local weather man has NEVER stopped using it. He says it several times during his weather reports every day! I also don't like anyone saying "genuwine", of mispronoucing my name. I don't mind if they call me by another name, I just don't like mine said funny. It's Alfreda with a long E not Alfrada with a long A in the middle.

I hope so. If not, then there is something else I haven't heard before.

Wow, yes so many of them bother me also. One that I have heard recently is "We were conversating", HUH? Do you mean talking? The text message short cuts, people are not going to know how to spell anymore (no problem I guess since all we are going to have to do is speak and the computer will type it for us). Another thing that has been bugging me is the blended words like: Skort for shorts/skirt or what we use to call coulottes (sp), pleather for patent leather, plarn for plastic yarn, shrug? not sure what this is for shoulder rug??? Oh, and the one that is everywhere, on TV and even professionals saying "Me and my friend" instead of my friend and I. Sorry folks, got a little carried away!

One of the things that really gets me is when people say, "There's three ....". No, if there are more than 2 of them it is, "There are...". I can't tell you how many people who make their living speaking publicly speak incorrectly. It drives me nuts. I have actually been known to yell at the t.v.

Many phrases of fractured English irritate me. One you hear a lot lately is "give it up for" whom ever the entertainer might be. It also bothers me that people don't know the difference between lose and loose!
